Manchester Pre-Hibernation Weekend 2026
Manchester’s bears are getting together for one last big weekend before winter. Pre-Hibearnation returns with Orange Crush, three days of bear socials, karaoke, club nights, a community market and an underwear party across Manchester’s Gay Village.
Organised by ManBears, the weekend brings together bears, cubs, chubs, otters, pups and admirers from across the UK, with a programme designed for both first-time visitors and returning regulars.
- Stay at Leven Manchester, a boutique hotel on the corner of Canal Street and Chorlton Street. Its spacious, individually designed rooms put you within minutes of the weekend’s principal venues.

What to Expect
Pre-Hibearnation is Manchester’s smaller autumn counterpart to the Great British Bear Bash, with the emphasis on meeting other guys rather than spending the entire weekend on a dance floor.
- Friday starts with karaoke hosted by Athena at District Bar, followed by Sex, Hugs & Sausage Rolls, a rock night at The Eagle. It’s a good opportunity to meet other visitors before Saturday’s bigger events.
- Saturday brings the Bear Bazaar, featuring independent traders, community stalls and bear-related merchandise. The evening’s Orange Crush club party takes over Sub 101, with orange outfits encouraged.
- Sunday shifts towards a more playful finish with the Underbear Party, reserved for weekend wristband holders. Bear Sauna also offers discounted sessions during the weekend.
- Most of the programme takes place in and around the Gay Village, making it easy to move between bars, parties and daytime activities without taxis.
- The crowd includes long-standing Manchester regulars and visitors travelling independently. The organiser’s Buddy programme is particularly useful for anyone attending alone.

- The Eagle Manchester – 15 Bloom Street. A men-only private members’ bar with industrial-style interiors, a basement club atmosphere and a programme of fetish nights, DJs and community socials. Check membership requirements before attending.
- Sub 101 – Princess Street. A basement nightclub beneath Cruz 101, known for late-night dance events and themed club parties. The Saturday Orange Crush event is scheduled here.
- District Bar – Gay Village. Hosts Friday’s karaoke with Athena, offering a more relaxed opening to the weekend.
- Bear Sauna – Manchester. The programme includes discounted sauna sessions for eligible weekend participants. Check the organiser’s final timetable for participating hours and conditions.
Tickets and Wristbands
Weekend wristbands are available through the official ManBears website and must be collected at the event’s registration point.
- A weekend wristband provides access to participating events, including the exclusive Sunday Underbear Party.
- Selected local businesses offer wristband discounts.
- The organiser runs a Buddy scheme for visitors who would appreciate help meeting people or navigating the weekend.

Before the Party – Gay Manchester
Manchester’s Gay Village is concentrated around Canal Street, with most bars within a five-minute walk of one another. For Pre-Hibearnation, the area around Sackville Street and Bloom Street is particularly convenient.
- The Eagle Manchester – Bloom Street. A men-only venue with a sociable early-evening bar and later fetish and club events. Particularly relevant to the bear weekend programme.
- REM Bar – 33 Sackville Street. A long-established Gay Village bar with a canalside terrace and a traditionally popular bear and leather crowd. The link is to a separate event listing at the venue, not a Pre-Hibearnation ticket.
- The Thompsons Arms – 23 Sackville Street. An informal LGBTQ+ pub with pop music, drinks promotions and late weekend opening, convenient for moving between the Village’s other venues.
Where to Stay
The best location is Manchester’s Gay Village or the adjoining Piccadilly area. Most weekend venues are within easy walking distance, and Manchester Piccadilly station is close enough for visitors arriving by train.
- Velvet Hotel Manchester – Best for Canal Street. A boutique hotel directly on the main gay nightlife strip, with individually styled rooms and immediate access to the bars. Expect some late-night street noise.
- Dakota Manchester – Best for luxury. An elegant hotel on Ducie Street with sophisticated rooms, a cocktail bar and a grill restaurant, around a 10-minute walk from the Gay Village.
- Kimpton Clocktower – Best for a grand hotel stay. A landmark Victorian property on Oxford Street with generous rooms and impressive public spaces, within walking distance of Canal Street.
- Native Manchester – Best for groups and longer stays. Spacious apartments in a converted warehouse near Piccadilly station, with kitchen facilities and plenty of room for a weekend away.

Pre-Hibearnation coincides with the opening weekend of Manchester’s Christmas Markets, giving visitors an opportunity to combine the bear celebrations with festive shopping and food.
- Manchester Christmas Markets – Scheduled from Saturday 14th November 2026, with stalls, seasonal food and outdoor bars across the city centre.
- SneaX Weekend Manchester – Friday 13th to Sunday 15th November 2026. A separate sportswear and sneaker fetish weekend with its own tickets and programme.
