Mighty Hoopla Malta turns the end of September into a pop mini-break in the Med, with pool parties, sunset shows and a full island getaway vibe.

• Visiting for Hoopla Malta? Our advice, stay in St Paul’s Bay  for the main Hoopla nights, then move into Valletta  for a couple of days of recovery, museum visits and slower evenings.

The Event

Bora Bora Ibiza Malta – Friday pool opener

• Expect DJ sets from early afternoon, inflatable-filled pools, and guest performers dropping in once the sun starts to fade.
• An adults-only music resort with a central pool, sun-bed deck, stage/DJ platform and bar terraces wrapping around it.

• Around 30–40 minutes north of Valletta, depending on traffic.
• Direct bus 45 from Valletta towards Bugibba drops you in St Paul’s Bay, from there it is a short walk to the hotel area.

Café del Mar Malta

• Café del Mar sits on the edge of the sea at Qawra with an infinity pool facing St Paul’s Island.
• Saturday night show unfolds with one of the best sunset backdrops on the island.
• Expect live pop concerts from 7pm, drag hosts, big sing-along moments and DJs running through to 4am.
• The venue is built around tiered decks, sun-beds and a wide seafront pool, with a main stage overlooking the water.
• It has an Ibizan open-air feel, blending restaurant terraces, lounge areas and VIP sections across different levels.
• About 30–40 minutes from Valletta by taxi; the trip is straightforward by coast road.
• Bus 45 from Valletta to Bugibba brings you close, followed by a short coastal walk to the venue.

Gianpula Village

• Gianpula Village is Malta’s countryside club complex.
• Used by Hoopla for its biggest arena night with full staging and long running hours.
• Think open-air festival space with multiple rooms, rooftop areas, courtyards and bars, all linked inside one gated site.
• The main stage sits outdoors with balcony levels above it, giving the night a proper “mini-festival” atmosphere.
• Side clubs like Marrakech and Phoenix sit around the central arena, each with their own sound and lighting.
• A 25-minute taxi from Valletta, running inland toward Rabat and Mdina; the final stretch is not pedestrian-friendly.
• Daytime buses reach Rabat in around 20 minutes, though you still need a short taxi to the venue.

Little Armier Beach

• Little Armier  is a shallow, clear-water beach at the far north of Malta, used by Hoopla for the Sunday daytime party.
• Expect DJs on the sand, floats, swims and a softer comedown energy as everyone drifts between the sea and the dance area.
• Two curved bays form the beach, backed by casual beach clubs, kiosks and low dunes in a quiet part of the coast.
• It has a simple, easygoing layout with sun-beds, umbrellas and wooden decks used for event setups.
• Around 40–45 minutes from Valletta by taxi, heading past St Paul’s Bay and Mellieħa.
• Buses toward Mellieħa/Cirkewwa connect you to the north coast, then a short taxi or local bus into Armier Bay.

The Party Venues – Locations

• Valletta sits on the east side of Malta and works as the cultural base and transport hub.

• St Paul’s Bay / Qawra is the north-coast resort strip; Bora Bora and Café del Mar sit here, around 30–40 minutes from Valletta by road.

• Distances are short in kilometres, yet transfers add up once you factor in traffic and country roads, so staying near the north-coast venues gives you an easier life for late-night returns.

Gay Valletta

• Malta scores high on LGBT rights and has an established Pride, yet the scene spreads across small venues rather than one big strip.
• Stay in the Old Town Palazzo at The 66 Saint Paul’s & Spa, set in a eestored townhouse on Saint Paul Street with a small rooftop pool, basement spa and a boutique vibe.
• These places sit within short walking distance inside the old walls, so you can hop between them before or after day trips.
• Maori  – relaxed seafront bar under the bastion walls, with cushions, hammocks and a boho crowd. Nights can be irregular, so check socials; when open it feels like a queer living room on the rocks.
• Café Society – steps down from the city, with little terraces facing the harbour. Great for sunset drinks, DJ sets and small live acts; popular with arty locals and visiting gays.
• Gugar – underground café/bar with left-field decor, vegan snacks and local creatives hanging out; very LGBTQ-friendly and good for a low-alcohol or sober night.
• Yard 32 – gin and tapas bar in narrow Strait Street, officially “gay-friendly” rather than a pure gay bar, yet it attracts a big LGBT mix and works well for pre-drinks.
• Michelangelo Club Lounge – Set in St Julians, it is the island’s main dedicated gay club: two floors, dancefloor, lounge areas and dark rooms. From Valletta bus station, frequent buses run to Sliema/St Julian’s in 20–30 minutes; taxis feel easier after 1am.
