King’s Day (Formerly Queensday) is the birthday of the king and a national holiday throughout Holland; hundreds of thousands of people attend street parties, and open air concerts in Amsterdam.

The Street Parties

  • Next Edition: Tuesday 27th April, 2027.
  • The best 3 gay street parties during Kings Day are held in Reguliersdwarsstraat, Amstel and Homomonument, full of gay boys and girls celebrating the Queen’s birthday.
  • Stay close to the street parties at The Albus Design Hotel with spacious rooms and right on the tram line, making it easy to explore the rest of the city.
  • Note, The Dutch street party organized by Jantjes Verjaardag in the eastern part of Reguliersdwarsstraat attracts a mainly straight audience. Gay guys tend to congregate on the western part of the street.
  • More than 750,000 people attend outdoor festivities across the city. This year the event falls midweek, so most of the bigger gay parties take place during the weekend after Kings Day celebrations.
  • The gay parties typically kick off from 12pm. Look out for lots of crazy orange costumes and skimpy outfits. Later on, events continue inside the bars and clubs.

All the gay clubs and bars have their own party nights to celebrate Kings day including:
