Floatilla Hong Kong 2027

Hong Kong’s annual gay dance party on the water. Get ready to ‘float’ with hot men and babes at Lamma Island.

  • Stay in The Pottinger Hong Kong close to all the gay bars and clubs, plus within easy reach of most of the city’s top attractions.

The Event

  • Next Edition: Awaiting dates – The 23rd Edition.
  • Floatilla brings together independently chartered boats for a day of socialising, swimming and partying.
  • The event typically takes place on the second or third Saturday of October annually.
  • Guests include bears, twinks, clubbers, local LGBTQ+ groups and international visitors from across Asia.
  • Each boat sets its own guest list, departure time, food, drinks and onboard entertainment.
  • The flotilla gathers at a designated bay, allowing participating boats to meet and celebrate together.
  • Precise gathering location can change each year.
  • Boats usually depart from the Central public piers on Hong Kong Island.
  • Check out hotels in Central, close to the Floatilla departure piers and the gay bars around Soho and Lan Kwai Fong. Hotels near the lower end of Hollywood Road offer a convenient base for both

What to Expect

  • A fleet of traditional Hong Kong junk boats anchored together in a sheltered bay.
  • Music, dancing and drinks on deck, with different atmospheres depending on the group hosting each boat.
  • Swimming, inflatable floats and opportunities to meet guests from neighbouring boats, where conditions and boat operators permit.
  • Everything from relaxed social cruises and buffet lunches to DJ-led gay party boats.
  • A mixed international crowd celebrating Hong Kong’s LGBTQ+ community in an informal, friendly setting.
  • Spectacular views of Hong Kong’s coastline and surrounding islands throughout the day.

How to Join Floatilla

There is no single ticket covering every boat. Visitors must reserve a place with a participating group or organise their own charter.

  • Tandem Queer Social Hong Kong offers a community-focused boat with lunch, swimming and a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Haus of Circuit hosts a gay party boat with music, socialising and an optional after-party package.
  • Groups of friends can charter a private junk boat, organise their own catering and join the gathering.
  • Booking early is recommended, particularly for visitors travelling alone or couples looking to join an existing group.

Floatilla After Dark

  • The celebrations continue on Saturday night with Haus of Circuit presenting Floatilla After Dark.

Before and After Floatilla: Hong Kong Gay Bars

Central’s SoHo and Lan Kwai Fong districts also offer plenty of restaurants and cocktail bars for dinner before heading to the after-party.

  • Follow your captain’s instructions before entering the water or approaching another boat.
  • Arrange your return transport in advance if your boat finishes at a pier away from Central.
  • Allow time to return to your hotel and change before heading out for the evening.
