Newcastle Pride celebrates sexuality and gender diversity in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Region. Newcastle lies at the mouth of the Hunter River, approximately 105 miles, 2 hour drive (170 km) northeast of Sydney.

• When it comes to the best areas to stay in Newcastle, NSW, the CBD area and Newcastle East offer most of the cultural attractions and some fantastic beaches. Rydges Newcastle offers amazing views and is right on the historic harbour front.

Newcastle Pride 2026

• Next Edition: Friday, October 9, 2026 To Sunday, October 25, 2026.
• Newcastle Pride brings together a mix of free community events, parties, drag shows, queer culture and live entertainment.
• Events take place at venues across Newcastle.
• The 2026 festival culminates with the Newcastle Pride Parade on Saturday 24th October.
• Fair Day will not take place in 2026. Organisers have paused the event for one year after being unable to secure sufficient sponsorship and grant funding.
• Fair Day is planned to return in 2027.

Newcastle Pride Parade

• Saturday 24th October 2026.
• Meet from 9 am at Honeysuckle Carpark.
• The parade departs at 9.30 am.
• The route follows the Honeysuckle Promenade from Honeysuckle Carpark towards Nobby’s Beach.
• Celebrations continue at Nobby’s after the parade with music, community activities and food.
• The event finishes at 1 pm.
• Participation is free.
• The parade takes on extra significance following the cancellation of Fair Day, giving locals and visitors one big final gathering to close the festival.
• Wear rainbow colours, drag, your favourite Pride outfit or simply turn up as you are.

Fair Day

• There is no Newcastle Pride Fair Day in 2026.
• Organisers made the decision to pause their flagship event after failing to secure enough sponsorship and grant funding to produce it at its usual scale.
• Rather than stage a reduced Fair Day, Newcastle Pride is concentrating its resources on the wider festival and the Pride Parade.
• Fair Day is expected to return in 2027.

Gay Newcastle

Newcastle makes an easy Pride weekend, combining LGBTQ+ nightlife with beaches, restaurants and a compact city centre.

Stay around the Newcastle, giving you easy access to the waterfront, Pride events and the city’s nightlife.

The city centre is compact enough to combine Pride events with Newcastle’s beaches and waterfront without spending much of your weekend travelling between neighbourhoods.
