The Festival
- Sunday September 1st – Rainbow Festival is an LGBTQ Community Block Party Fundraiser held annually at the intersection of 20th and K streets in Midtown Sacramento, Labor Day Weekend.
- The event brings top notch live entertainment and street vendors together for a celebration of Sacramento’s LGBT Community.
- A series of parties and events are held during the weekend in Sacramento’s gay bars and clubs, culminating in a full day festival on the Sunday of the Labor Day weekend.
- More than 8,000 visitors attend the event from across Northern California.
Location
- The Sacramento Rainbow Festival is held in the popular Midtown area of the city. The celebration includes music, festivities, booths, performances, and more.
- Bars hosting events in the area over the weekend include:
- Faces – 3 dance rooms, 15 bars, VIP lounge & outdoor pool, plus themed events and ‘dress to impress’-code.
- Badlands – Raucous gay bar & nightclub with drag nights, DJs, multiple bars & a disco-style dance floor.
- The Depot – Down-to-earth gay bar featuring cocktails, draft brews & casual eats, plus regular events & a patio.
- SideTrax – Easygoing neon-lit nightclub featuring cocktails, drag spectaculars & other local events.
- The Mercantile Saloon (“The Merc”) – Venerable gay watering hole with a chill vibe offering happy hours, a pool table & an outdoor patio.
- The Bolt – Sacramento’s gay leather bar, located north of downtown in Gardenland. The Bolt is popular with bears, leather daddies and their fans
Event Details
- Events kick off at 12pm and end at 7pm on the Sunday. The success of the Rainbow Festival is due largely to an atmosphere of merriment and revelry.
- Events are held across several stages and the festival features over over 100 informational and vendor booths.
