Prague Christmas Markets!
The Christmas markets make Prague a heaven for the Christmas enthusiastic shoppers.
Christmas markets are held in many places of this city and are open right at the beginning of Advent until 1st of January.
However, you can experience the most magical atmosphere on Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí), where next to the little stalls and a small nativity dominates a huge Christmas tree gleaming with lights and decorations.
Another popular market is in the lower part of Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí), on the Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky).
The markets on Peace Square (Náměstí Míru) and Tyl square (Tylovo náměstí) have a more intimate atmosphere
The Prague Christmas markets are open daily, including on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The markets are open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m until 8 p.m. weekends.
On the markets you can buy traditional handicrafts, beautiful handmade Christmas decorations, warm wool socks and slippers and many more nicely made handicraft. Sweet lovers will be delighted with the stalls that are full of traditional Czech Christmas sweets.
You can taste homemade Christmas sweet bread, beautifully decorated gingerbread, short-crust pastry cookies which are typical Czech Christmas treats. For people who prefer savoury food, there is plenty to choose from. A wonderful way to warm up in this cold winter time is with a glass of sweetly scented mullet wine (svařák) or golden mead (medovina).
We have found that the best place to stay is in the old town of Prague as this makes a good base, the gay bars and clubs a little spread out, but most are within walking distance from the old town, and the others just a short taxi ride away.
Here are the Hotels we recommend that keep you close to all the action
Gay Map of Prague
There is no main gay village or district in Prague. Instead the bars are spread out over town areas, mainly in the city centre and in the Vinohrady district.
