Notte Bianca is a memorable event held every October in Malta’s beautiful city of Valetta, celebrating culture and romance
Notte Bianca is one of Malta’s biggest annual arts and culture festivals. The event lights up the Valletta cityscape with a spectacular celebration that is open to the public free of charge.

Performances and Street Music

- The city is awash with visual art exhibitions and theatrical shows. Musicians and dancers perform throughout the capital’s streets and piazzas.
- Streets and piazzas are transformed into venues for open-air performances and concerts, while many cafés and restaurants extend their opening hours.
- Watch out for the famous White “Flash Mobs” or join in with “Karaoke ta’ Vera” offering participants a unique opportunity to sing a song of their choice, accompanied by a real, live band.
- State palaces and museums open their doors to delight patrons with visual art exhibitions. (Entrance is free).
- The event typically takes place on Saturday during the first weekend in October.
The Venues
- The entire city of Valletta, from City Gate to Fort St Elmo, comes alive for Notte Bianca, guaranteeing a memorable night that truly holds something for everyone.
- No matter where you turn, visitors will find pop-up performances and surprises, so go with the flow and enjoy a truly unique Maltese event.
The Routes
- Featuring 7 different routes: Alternative, Classic, Dance, Kids, Theatre, Music & Red Route.
- Bringing together local favourites, artistic installations, and expressive performances, the Alternative route presents a unique experience for lovers of music, arts and culture. Highlighting this route, is a fantastic end of summer concert at Laparelli, calling all free spirits to join in the fun.
- The Classics route presents a creative take on the classical music genre with a variety of projects that celebrate the great masters.
- The Dance route explores cultural similarities and brings people together through interdisciplinary performances.
- Designed to entertain the most curious of minds. The KIDs projects in this route are fantastical, magical, and above all incredibly fun and mesmerising. Suitable for all the family.
- The diverse theatrical route includes comedic performances all over Valletta as well as roaming street theatre with performances with an element of improvisation.
- The daring red route will highlight the sultry side of Valletta, with projects that tease your senses through sensual music and adult themes. Parental guidance for this route is advised.
- The following roads host some of the most popular displays and are closed to traffic during the event: St Mark Street, Old Bakery Street, Melita Street, Girolamo Cassar Street, West Street, Old Bakery Street, St Christopher Street, Merchant Street, and St Dominic Street.
Ferries
- The ferries will operate from the Sliema (Ferries) to Valletta (Water Polo Pitch) and from the Threes Cities to Valletta (Opposite the Barrakka Lift) and back, with an extension of services until 2am.
Gay Events
- Many of the city’s gay bars and clubs host special white night parties during the weekend, so remember to dress accordingly!
