  • Doors open at 9pm, with admission until around 1.30am and the party continuing until 4am. Arrive earlier than you might for a normal Mexico City club night if you want to catch the full Halloween production.
  • Hallowoof falls right in the middle of Mexico City’s Día de Muertos celebrations, so this is a particularly strong weekend to extend your stay rather than flying in solely for Sunday night.

The Venue

  • La Maraka – Mitla 410, Colonia Narvarte, Benito Juárez, Mexico City. The venue returns as the home of Hallowoof for the 2026 ICONIC edition.
  • La Maraka is a proper live entertainment venue rather than a converted bar, with a large main floor, elevated stage and professional sound and lighting setup that gives BearMex room for its DJs, dancers, shows and costume production.
  • The open floor means the stage remains visible from much of the venue, which matters at Hallowoof when performances and costume moments form a substantial part of the night.
  • Narvarte is south of the main gay nightlife districts, so treat La Maraka as your destination for the evening rather than somewhere to include in a bar crawl.
  • From Zona Rosa, allow roughly 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or rideshare, with extra time on Halloween night.
  • Stay around Zona Rosa or Roma rather than beside La Maraka. You’ll have a far better choice of gay bars, restaurants and hotels, then make the short trip south when you’re ready for Hallowoof.

Halloween & Día de Muertos Weekend

Hallowoof lands on one of the best weekends of the year to visit Mexico City. Halloween overlaps with the opening of the traditional Día de Muertos celebrations, so the city changes character across the weekend.

  • 31st October – Noche de Brujas – Halloween night brings costume parties to bars and clubs across Zona Rosa, Roma and Centro.
  • 1st November – Día de los Inocentes – The first major day of Día de Muertos, traditionally remembering children who have died.
  • 2nd November – Día de Muertos – The principal Day of the Dead observance, with altars, flowers and celebrations continuing across the city.

Mexico City’s major Día de Muertos programme stretches well beyond these dates, so allow at least three or four nights if you want to combine Hallowoof with the city’s public celebrations.

Gay Mexico City Before Hallowoof

Stay around Zona Rosa if nightlife is the priority. You can start the evening among the bars around Amberes, Londres, Niza and Florencia before taking a taxi to La Maraka.

  • Nicho Bears & Bar – Londres 182, Zona Rosa. BearMex’s natural home base and the most relevant bar for Hallowoof visitors. The crowd is firmly bear, cub and chaser, with go-go guys, themed parties and regular BearMex community events. Start here if you want to meet partygoers before the main party.
  • EL ALMACEN – Florencia 37-B. One of Zona Rosa’s long-running gay bars, with a stronger leather, bear and mature-guy following than many of the larger clubs around Amberes.
  • Kinky Bar – Amberes 1. Multi-level gay club mixing a cantina-style bar, karaoke, drag, go-go dancers and a rooftop terrace. A useful choice when your group wants something broader than the bear scene.
  • Blow Bar – Niza 40. Late-night gay club with drag, go-go dancers and themed parties, running until 4am on Friday and Saturday.
  • Baby Club – Londres 179. Younger, louder gay club mixing reggaeton, pop and R&B with drag and themed nights. Conveniently located almost opposite Nicho.
  • TOM’S Leather Bar – Insurgentes Sur 357, Hipódromo. One of Mexico City’s established men-only leather and cruise bars. A stronger choice for anyone extending the night into the fetish scene rather than returning to Zona Rosa’s mainstream clubs.
  • Revuelta Queer House – Puebla 94, Roma Norte. Queer bar and cultural space with a broader LGBTQ+ mix. It works well for an afternoon or early-evening drink if you’re staying in Roma rather than Zona Rosa.

BearMex in Mexico City

Hallowoof is one part of a much larger BearMex calendar.
