Where to stay in Barcelona

Barcelona is full of gay and gay-friendly places to stay.

  • First of all, you will need a place to Stay. The NH Calderon is one of our top recommendations, located in Barcelona’s main gay district,  Eixample, known locally as Gaixample.
  • Hotels can be pricey and apartments can offer better value if you are staying in a group. Those looking for a hotel under the EUR 100 per night mark should check out the HCC Open. Those looking to go gay all-the-way, should check out the Hotel Axel with its infamous roof-top pool parties and “Do Disturb” door signs.
  • If you stay in Gaixample, all of the gay bars and clubs of the city will be within easy walking distance! There is also a great vibe in the area during the Circuit Festival with the sidewalk cafes, shops and galleries teeming with hot gay guys ready to party!

Survival Guide

Remember, its a sprint not a marathon. 12 days of partying can be a lot. Here are our insider tips for a successful circuit week.

Circuit Barcelona Survival Guide

Remember to hydrate! Keeping up with these guys is a challenge, but fun!

  • The event itself is spread out over 12 days so remember to pace yourself! You don’t want to burn out after the first night!
  • Choose in advance which parties you want to attend and which to skip. A party wristband can be a great money-saver as individual tickets can run from between EUR 30 and EUR 70. A wristband also means you can skip the queue.
  • The majority of parties and events are spread across the city at large clubs and outdoor locations. The party organisers, Matinee, provide buses to each of the out of town events.  The buses leave from Plaza Catalunya and return their once the party has concluded. If you want to guarantee a stress-free return journey, leave an hour or so before the party ends, otherwise be prepared to queue!
  • Remember you are in Spain. People here eat late and party later! Most events won’t get busy until after 2am and will finish up at 6am. A good rule of thumb is 9-12-2. Dine at 9, drinks at midnight and party hard after 2am! Check out our top places to dine!
  • With so many parties to choose from we often get asked which ones should I not miss? The Opening and closing parties are also where you will find the big DJ headliners and the most amazing GoGos complete with spectacular light shows and theatrics. The Papa Party, La Leche and Matinee Pervert are also firm favorites
  • There’s also simple answer. If it involves water then don’t miss it!

The Waterpark

A 12-hour mega day and night party. Here's our top tips for the perfect Waterpark escape.

Barcelona Circuit Waterpark

The world's largest gay party in a Waterpark… don't miss it!

  • Last year almost 12,000 guys attended the Water Park Party! Matinee rents out the entire waterpark for 24 hours. You can purchase a day pass, a night pass or a total party pass!
  • If you are attending the entire event, bring a change of clothes. There are lockers and showers onsite. Queues for these can also be quite long.
  • Don’t miss the amazing fireworks display at the end of the party. The best time to arrive is by 2pm.
  • The park has several food vendors dotted across the site so you won’t go  hungry. It is roughly one hour from the centre of Barcelona. Enjoy the bus journey..the energy and excitement of your fellow party goers is part of the  experience.
  • There are also several pool parties which can be more intimate than the mega aqua park event!

The Beaches and Day Parties

Barcelona combines the best of city life with a beach right on it's doorstep! Here' are our top recommendations on where to park your beach butt.

The calm before the chaos. BeGay Chiringuito is the place to be for circuit beach lovers during the day.

  • During the day, head to the The gay beach “Mar Bella” is a great place to begin your daily routine. Enjoy a delicious breakfast or snack in some of the many chiringuitos that dot the beach promenades. These small bars and restaurants are on the beach and offer tasty tapas and superb cocktails.
  • Barcelona is a city made for exploring. Hop on one of the many red buses and take in the stunning architecture of the city. Explore the beautiful artworks celebrated in the Picasso Museum and of course don’t forget to take in the spectacle of the Sagrada Familia. Check out the top things to see and do in the city.
  • If you are dining out during the evening, then we recommend you avoid the tourist areas of Las Ramblas and stick to the area north of Gran Via close to Rambla Catalunya where you will find delicious tapas bars and local restaurants. Those looking for traditional Paella should check out Barcelonetta, a former fishing barrio. Get our insider tips on the best places to eat out, from fine dining to beach side fare.

Popular Day Parties

  • GO Beach Club feels like a sun-drenched playground perched on the edge of Barcelona’s waterfront.
  • Tucked into the Port Fòrum marina, it stretches across four distinct levels, each serving up a different kind of energy—from laid-back lounging to full-throttle nightlife.
  • The rooftop Sky Bar is the showstopper, with wide-open views that sweep across the Mediterranean.
  • Down below, the pool zone pulses during the day with resident DJs and a rotating mix of international guests.
  • Sunbeds line the edges, Balinese beds cluster in corners, and champagne bottles make the rounds by noon.
  • Come late afternoon, the mood shifts—still lively, but a little sleeker—as the sunset crowd moves in.
  • Inside, the interiors are clean-lined and modern: glass, steel, soft lighting.
  • From Eixample, you're looking at a 15- to 20-minute taxi ride, depending on traffic.
  • Expect to pay around €15. Public transport is possible via Metro Line 4—hop off at El Maresme-Fòrum and take a short walk toward the port.

The following pool parties take place at GO beach club:

Sitges – An essential day trip, or more!

Located just 40 minutes by train from Barcelona (train every 30 mins or so), Sitges is a must-do visit during your time in Barcelona.

Sitges

Sitges has several gay beaches and is the perfect respite from a long week of partying.
