PIPE Cologne brings bears, cubs, otters, chasers and their admirers together for the official Saturday-night party of BearPride Cologne. Held at Schrotty, a former scrapyard transformed into an industrial nightclub, PIPE combines electronic music, pop, cruising and a men-only crowd for one of the biggest nights of the November bear weekend.

• PIPE is a proper bear club night rather than a conventional circuit party with a narrow body-type ideal. The crowd brings together different ages, sizes and styles, with the emphasis on dancing, socialising and enjoying the bear community.
• The two-floor format gives the party variety. Spend the night dancing to electronic music, move between floors to meet friends or explore the playroom.
• Although PIPE welcomes fetish gear, there is no mandatory dress code. Casual clubwear, harnesses, leather and sportswear all fit the atmosphere.

The Venue – Schrotty Cologne

• Located in the Bickendorf area, west of Cologne’s city centre.
• The former scrapyard retains much of its industrial character, with old vehicles, unconventional decorations and a mixture of indoor and outdoor spaces.
• The outdoor areas offer somewhere to take a break from the dance floor, with the club’s distinctive scrapyard surroundings adding to the atmosphere.
• Schrotty is approximately 5km from the central gay nightlife districts, so it is not a practical walk from the Old Town.

Getting to PIPE

The organisers advertise a shuttle departing from the Mühlenbach bus stop in central Cologne.

• Shuttle departure point: Mühlenbach, near the southern Old Town.
• A taxi or rideshare is a practical alternative, particularly when returning to your hotel early on Sunday morning.
• By public transport, tram lines 3 and 4 serve Rochusplatz, approximately 1km from the venue.

PIPE is the main Saturday club event during BearPride Cologne, a six-day gathering with bear socials, sauna events, shopping, dinners and parties.

Visitors arriving for the full weekend can also enjoy:

Where to Stay in Cologne

For PIPE, stay in the city centre rather than beside Schrotty. Most BearPride social events take place around the Old Town, Heumarkt and Friesenplatz, while the party venue requires a separate journey.

The Old Town is the most convenient base for the advertised shuttle, restaurants and traditional bear bars. Rudolfplatz is better for visitors who want a wider choice of gay nightlife.

Gay Cologne – Before the Party

Cologne has two main gay nightlife districts, each offering a different experience.

The Old Town, around Heumarkt, Mühlenbach and Mathiasstraße, is the traditional centre of Cologne’s bear and cruising scene. It is also the more practical starting point for PIPE.

Schaafenstraße, near Rudolfplatz, has a livelier mix of cocktail bars, pop music and late-night dancing.

• Pullermanns – Mathiasstraße 22. One of Cologne’s longstanding men-only fetish and cruising bars, with a darkroom and themed evenings. A natural choice for PIPE visitors interested in the city’s leather and cruising scene.

Schaafenstraße – Cocktails and Late-Night Bars

• IRON Cocktail Lounge – Schaafenstraße 45. A stylish cocktail bar with carefully prepared drinks, weekend DJs and a more sophisticated atmosphere than the traditional pubs.
• Die Mumu – Schaafenstraße 51. A lively gay party bar with pop music, DJs and a younger mixed crowd. Particularly busy on weekend nights.
