- The Manchester rubber scene is often described as “the friendliest fetish scene out there” and the highlight of the year is the Manchester Rubber Weekend. While the city may not have giant circuit parties or huge play mazes, Manchester does have a vibrant, inclusive gay community and the rubber scene is at the heart of that.
- STRETCH is a shiny rubber fetish night for Manchester, Sam Barclay has teamed up with Eagle Manchester and Regulation-London to bring you a fresh and rubbery night putting FUN firmly on the menu. A strict rubber dress code is in force.
- The REM Bar, one of Manchester’s most popular gay bars, hosts many of the parties taking place during MRW11.
- The city fills up most weekends during the Summer with people keen to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the gay village along Canal Street. Stay close by and book your hotel or apartment early.
The Organisers
- Manchester Rubber Weekend is a non-profit series of events run by a group of friends to connect hundreds of rubber guys from all over the world.
- Last year they had guys from over 24 countries with rubber freaks coming from across Europe, the US, and further afield. And each year Manchester Rubber Weekend gets bigger and better.
- Think of Manchester Rubber Weekend as one giant house party, where you catch up with friends and meet new ones.
The Parties
Awaiting schedule for 2027
- Expect plenty of drinking, dancing, playing, snogging, shopping, restraining, laughing, and cruising.
- Manchester Rubber Weekend typically hosts four main club nights from Friday to Sunday, including Alert, complete with bondage areas, a fetish market with some of the UK’s leading rubber retailers, an art exhibition, Pup Pound and of course some crazy frivolity so as not to keep it too serious with Geartunes, prize give-aways and Sisters’ Bingo all helping to raise money for charity.
- Other party higlights include the Stretch Manchester Rubber Party.
Before the Party – Gay Manchester
Manchester Rubber Weekend takes over the Gay Village, with most events concentrated around Canal Street, Richmond Street and Bloom Street. Start at REM Bar for a relaxed drink with other rubber guys, or head to The Eagle and Company Bar for a more fetish-focused crowd. All six venues are within a few minutes’ walk of one another.
- REM Bar – 33 Sackville Street. A traditional gay pub with a loyal bear, leather and fetish crowd. Its canalside terrace is ideal for meeting other rubber enthusiasts before the evening parties.
- The Eagle Manchester – 15 Bloom Street. A men-only members’ bar and one of Manchester’s principal fetish venues. Hosts leather, rubber and cruising events, making it particularly relevant to the weekend. Check membership requirements before visiting.
- Company Bar – 26 Richmond Street, basement. A compact, low-lit gay men’s bar with a cruisy atmosphere and late opening. Also associated with specialist rubber events, including Full Cover.
- Via Manchester – 28-30 Canal Street. A large gay bar with traditional pub interiors, cabaret entertainment and food. A useful starting point for groups, especially as Manchester Rubber Weekend wristband holders receive a food discount.
- The Molly House – 26 Richmond Street. A relaxed LGBTQ+ pub serving craft beers, wines and tapas. Best for an early drink or something to eat before changing into rubber for the evening.
- EVA Manchester – 27 Sackville Street. A two-floor gay bar with karaoke, drag performances and DJs. A lively alternative for visitors wanting a more social start to the night before moving to the fetish parties.
Where to Stay
Manchester Rubber Weekend is centred on the Gay Village, making Canal Street, Princess Street and Piccadilly the most convenient areas to stay. For five days of rubber parties, choose somewhere with room to unpack your gear, change between events and recover after late nights.
- Whitworth Locke – Best overall location. Stylish studio apartments in a converted Victorian building on Princess Street, approximately five minutes from Canal Street. The kitchenettes and additional living space make this a particularly practical choice for rubber guys bringing several outfits.
- Cove Minshull Street – Best for longer stays. Contemporary serviced apartments with separate living areas, fully equipped kitchens and laundry facilities. Close to Piccadilly station and around five minutes from the Gay Village, with more space to organise your gear between parties.
- INNSiDE by Meliá Manchester – Best for recovery. A modern design hotel at First Street with spacious contemporary rooms, a gym, sauna and wellness facilities. Around 10-15 minutes from Canal Street, making it a good option for visitors wanting some distance from the late-night crowds.
- King Street Townhouse Hotel & Spa – Best for luxury. An intimate boutique hotel in a restored historic building, with elegant bedrooms, a rooftop pool and spa facilities. Around 10-15 minutes from the Gay Village, ideal for couples combining the rubber weekend with a more indulgent city break.
