To: Thursday, October 31, 2024
The Halloween Parade runs up Sixth Ave from Spring St to 16th St in Manhattan.
Time to dust off that costume and head to the Village Halloween Parade—NYC’s spookiest procession and one of the best Halloween events in New York.
- Stay close to the parade and the after party at Webster Hall in the East Village, home to some of New York’s finest hotels including The Bowery rated “Superb” by guests, offering a luxurious experience just steps from the parade.
Halloween in the Village
- Awaiting theme and grand marshals for the 2024 edition – With over 50,000 zombies, giant puppets and politicians taking the streets, you may need a little help with navigation. So dress up in your best Halloween costume ideas for New Yorkers (or else you won’t be allowed to march), work on your Halloween makeup ideas and get ready for a ghoulishly good time.
The Parade
- The Halloween Parade runs up Sixth Ave from Spring St and will travel North on Sixth Avenue from Canal Street to 18th Street. The Village Halloween Parade is on Halloween eve and goes from 7–9pm.
- Line-up for those who want to be IN the Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Line-up is on 6th Avenue between Spring St. and Broome St. Marchers should ONLY approach 6th Ave. from the EAST or the SOUTH, coming North from Canal St. or from EAST on Sullivan or Broome. Spring will be closed off both East and West as will Dominick and Little Broome Streets.
- We recommend gathering your fellow creatures of the night a few blocks away rather than trying to find your group in the middle of the chaotic lineup.
- The Moyx NYC East Village is the perfect hotel for a Halloween stay with uniquely designed rooms, on site bakery and a great fitness center.
Viewing Spots
- Just because you’re not wearing a costume this year doesn’t mean you don’t get to party. Get to Sixth Ave early and grab a lookout spot before the parade rolls out at 7pm.
- Sixth Ave becomes most congested with spectators between Bleeker and 14th Sts, so we suggest setting up camp at either the head (Spring to W Houston Sts) or tail (14th St to 16th St) of the parade.
The After Party
- The Official Halloween Parade Afterparty takes over Webster Hall with a USD 5,000 Cash Costume Contest.
- Party kicks off at 8pm.
The East Village
The East Village has been New York City’s premier alternative enclave for decades, with a social scene that’s known for being daring and creative—and far less fussy and formulaic—than other NYC neighborhoods. Popular venues to visit include:
- Nowhere – the East Village’s favorite basement party, with popular themed events, like TV-watch parties and bear nights.
- Club Cumming – Beloved actor and bon vivant Alan Cumming teamed up with NYC gay nightlife impresario Daniel Nardicio to create this enclave for cabaret, creativity and kink in the former Eastern Bloc space, with everything from club nights to knitting circles to sexy drawing sessions.
- The Boiler Room – The neighborhood’s longest running gay dive bar has watched its heydays come and go over the past quarter century; yet it still packs them in, enduring as the area’s go-to destination for low-frills fun.
- The Cock – Welcome to the East Village’s raunchiest gay bar, where cruising is heavy and public displays of affection are common. It’s one of the few neighborhood bars to charge a cover, but you get what you pay for: dirty dancing and beefy go-go guys galore.
- Phoenix: A popular gay bar with a mixed crowd, frequent DJs, and a relaxed vibe.
