- The maximum capacity of the theatre is 4,500 people; it is the largest theatre located in Bogotá.
- For a truly unique stay, consider the Casa Legado Hotel, an exceptional hotel just a short distance from the venue offering a boutique hotel experience with delicious a la carte breakfast.
Other Venues
- Lourdes Music Hall – A high-energy concert space full of lights and sound, catering to big party crowds. 5-10 minutes drive from the gay district of Theatron in Chapinero.
- Palenque Rooftop – Stylish rooftop club with skyline views and a more intimate party atmosphere above the city. 8-12 minutes by taxi.
Gay Bogotá
- Bogota is Colombia’s sprawling, high-altitude capital, home to more than 7.2 million people. The gay scene is vibrant and varied, with a bar for all tastes.
- Chapinero is home to Bogotá’s gay neighbourhood, a well to do district 30 minutes to one hour drive from the downtown district of Candelaria. Yes, traffic can be quite an issue in the city, so plan accordingly. We suggest you stay in the gay district and use it as your base to explore the rest of the city.
- Bogota’s gay bars are spread out along Carrera 9 street between Calles 58 to 60 in the Chapinero district. The busiest include:
Café Bars and Early Drinks
- La Estación Café – One of Chapinero’s established gay meeting places, set inside a converted house with covered terraces, dining tables and several intimate rooms. Come for dinner, cocktails or quieter pre-party drinks before moving to the clubs around Calle 59. Open daily, with later closing on Friday and Saturday. Calle 62 No. 7-13, Chapinero.
- Brokeback Mountain – A camp four-room bar combining karaoke, Colombian pop, drag appearances and inexpensive cocktails. The crowd is sociable and mixed in age, making it an easy place to begin a night without committing to a large club. Open from the afternoon until approximately 3 am or 4 am, depending on the night. Calle 59 No. 9-32, Chapinero.
- Leos Bar Mística – A sprawling multi-level gay venue with a cantina, terrace, dance floors, VIP room and regular karaoke or drag sessions. Rancheras and Latin singalong tracks dominate the cantina; reggaeton and commercial music take over the club rooms later. Popular with bears, daddies and groups in their thirties and forties. Open daily from the afternoon until approximately 5 am. Calle 59 No. 9-36, Chapinero.
Bear Bars
- Bearlove Café Bar – Bogotá’s dedicated bear bar, attracting bears, cubs, daddies and their friends for beer pitchers, commercial Latin tracks and occasional puppy or themed nights. It has a compact, unpretentious setup where meeting people is easier than in the larger Chapinero clubs. Open Thursday to Saturday and before selected public holidays, normally from 7 pm to 5 am. Carrera 9A No. 60-37, Chapinero.
Gay Clubs
- Theatron – Bogotá’s landmark LGBTQ+ club occupies a former theatre and operates as a complete nightlife complex rather than a single dance floor. Its numerous rooms cover reggaeton, salsa, pop, electronic music, retro hits and drag shows, letting guests change atmosphere without leaving the building. Arrive before midnight to explore the rooms before the main Saturday rush. Open Thursday to Saturday from approximately 9 pm to 5 am. Calle 58 Bis No. 10-32, Chapinero.
- El Mozo – An upmarket gay club built around international circuit DJs, muscular dancers, stage shows and polished themed production. The crowd dresses sharply, drinks cost more than at the Calle 59 bars and headline weekends often require advance tickets. El Mozo produces Misterio Halloween Festival and several of Bogotá’s largest gay events. Avenida Carrera 85 No. 12-51, Zona Rosa.
- Bar Chiquita Bogotá – A theatrical three-floor LGBTQ+ bar and club filled with kitsch decoration, neon installations and photo sets. Expect local drag performers, reggaeton, pop and a fashionable mixed crowd rather than a men-only circuit audience. Open Wednesday and Thursday until approximately 2 am, and Friday and Saturday until 4 am or 5 am. Carrera 14A No. 83-63, Zona Rosa.
- Video Club – A queer-friendly warehouse club for house, techno and alternative Latin sounds, with two principal rooms and a terrace. The booking policy leans toward underground DJs rather than commercial gay anthems, and its crowd mixes LGBTQ+ clubbers with Bogotá’s wider electronic scene. Check the weekly programme before attending, since opening nights follow the event calendar. Calle 64 No. 13-09, Chapinero.
Gay Saunas
- Sauna Saint Moritz – One of Bogotá’s longest-running gay saunas, occupying two floors with a Turkish bath, dry sauna, jacuzzi, cabins, massage service and bar. It draws a mature clientele, with bears and older men particularly present during the afternoon. Open daily from approximately 1 pm; Friday and Saturday have later closing times. Calle 65 No. 13-30, second floor, Chapinero.
- Cómplices Spa – A large men-only spa with a Roman-style pool, Turkish bath, jacuzzi, dark areas, private cabins and organised theme sessions. Its scale and programmed promotions make it closer to an adult entertainment complex than a traditional neighbourhood sauna. Located south of the main Chapinero bar cluster, so take a taxi rather than walking late at night. Carrera 13A No. 38-60, Santa Fe.
- Dagoas Sauna Hostel Gay – Bogotá’s principal 24-hour gay sauna combines hostel accommodation with lockers, private rooms, a jacuzzi, Turkish bath, dry sauna, bar and massage service. Its round-the-clock opening makes it a common after-hours stop once the neighbouring Calle 59 bars close. The facilities are practical rather than luxurious. Calle 59 No. 9-34, Chapinero.
