Festival de Verano de Bogotá 2027

Bogotá’s Festival de Verano is one of the Colombian capital’s biggest annual celebrations, filling the city with free concerts, sporting competitions, outdoor activities and special events during the summer.

  • Visiting for the Summer Festival? The event attracts millions of visitors, so book your stay well in advance. Stay close to the venue, Parque Central Simón Bolivar and enjoy easy access to the show. The GHL Hotel is rated “Superb” and is highly rated for its location, breakfast options and spa facilities.

Festival de Verano

  • Next Edition: Awaiting dates – The program runs across several weeks during July and August.
  • Festival de Verano combines major concerts and international sporting competitions with smaller recreational events spread across Bogotá.
  • The programme changes each year, with recent editions featuring beach volleyball, tennis, taekwondo, cycling, skating, motorsports, outdoor fitness, family activities and large-scale live shows.
  • One of the biggest opening-weekend events is the Conciertazo de Verano at Parque Metropolitano Simón Bolívar, bringing Colombian and international performers to the festival’s main outdoor stage.
  • Bogotá Góspel traditionally follows with another large free concert at Simón Bolívar.
  • Other events take the festival beyond the main park, using sports complexes, neighbourhood parks, city streets and unusual locations across the capital.
  • Stay in Chapinero for easy access to Bogotá’s gay nightlife.

What to expect

  • Festival de Verano is less like a conventional music festival and closer to a month-long city programme.
  • The schedule mixes professional sporting competitions with events visitors can join, from cycling and skating to outdoor fitness and recreational activities.
  • Music forms a major part of the programme, particularly during the opening weekend. Large concerts at Simón Bolívar can attract substantial crowds, so arrive early for the headline events.
  • Look out for the Festival de Cometas, Bogotá’s popular kite-flying celebrations, plus the Ciclovía Nocturna, when sections of the city’s cycling network come alive after dark.
  • The final programme, venues and individual event times are normally released closer to the festival.

Parque Metropolitano Simón Bolívar

  • Parque Metropolitano Simón Bolívar is the principal setting for the festival’s biggest concerts and outdoor events.
  • The enormous park sits west of Chapinero and incorporates lakes, paths, sports facilities and large event spaces.
  • Don’t expect every Festival de Verano event to take place here. Recent programmes have spread activities across Bogotá, so check the official schedule before travelling to individual events.

Gay Bogotá

  • For gay visitors, Chapinero is the best base. This is the heart of Bogotá’s LGBTQ+ scene, with many of the city’s busiest gay bars, clubs and saunas concentrated around the district.
  • The area gets busiest from Thursday through Saturday. Bogotá is a huge city, so staying in Chapinero makes nights out much easier, with many venues within walking distance or a short taxi ride.

Gay Bars & Clubs

  • TheatronCalle 58 Bis #10-32, Chapinero: Bogotá’s landmark gay superclub and one of the largest LGBTQ+ clubs in Latin America. The huge former theatre complex has multiple rooms covering pop, Latin, electronic and crossover music, plus shows and large themed parties.
  • El MozoChapinero: One of the names to watch for Bogotá’s bigger gay circuit nights, with DJs, dancers and large themed productions. Check its current programme before your trip, as parties and locations can change.
  • Brokeback MountainCalle 59 #9-32, Chapinero: A fun multi-level gay bar and disco with karaoke, cocktails and several music styles. It has a much more casual, local atmosphere than Bogotá’s big circuit clubs and works well earlier in the evening.
  • Leo’s BarCalle 59 #9-36, Chapinero: A long-running LGBTQ+ bar and disco close to Brokeback Mountain, with several spaces and a predominantly local crowd.
  • Village CaféChapinero: A smaller gay café-bar that’s better suited to cocktails, conversation and starting your evening before moving on to the clubs. Karaoke and live entertainment feature on selected nights.
  • Dark Club Bogotá Calle 64 #13-35, Piso 2, Chapinero: A men-only gay cruise club operating in Bogotá for around two decades. Expect cruising areas, darkroom spaces and adults-only themed nights from Tuesday through Sunday.
  • Gigolo Erotic House Calle 65 #13-30, Piso 3, Chapinero: A men-focused late-night venue known for dancers, stripper shows and erotic-themed events.

Gay Saunas in Bogotá

Bogotá has a good selection of gay saunas, with several established venues around Chapinero and nearby Teusaquillo. Most get busier from the afternoon into the early evening.

  • Sauna Saint MoritzCalle 65 #13-30, Piso 2, Chapinero: One of Bogotá’s best-known gay saunas, with a Turkish bath, dry sauna, jacuzzi, private cabins and bar. It attracts a mixed-age crowd and regularly hosts themed sessions. Open from 13:00 daily, with later closing on Friday and Saturday.
  • Dagoas Sauna & Hostel Calle 59 #9-34, Chapinero: A 24-hour gay sauna and men-only hostel close to the main Chapinero nightlife. Facilities include a jacuzzi, Turkish bath, dry sauna, showers, bar and private areas. Its round-the-clock opening makes it particularly useful after the clubs close.
  • La Playa Sauna – Calle 55 #13-66, Chapinero: An old-school Bogotá gay sauna with a traditional baño turco atmosphere. Expect steam and dry sauna areas, video spaces, darkroom and bar. It attracts a largely local crowd and opens from the early afternoon.
  • Cómplices SpaCarrera 13A #38-60, Teusaquillo: One of Bogotá’s longest-running gay spa and cruising venues, operating since 1999. Facilities include sauna and steam areas, jacuzzi, cabins and dedicated cruising spaces. It’s south of the main Chapinero nightlife district and attracts a predominantly local crowd.
  • Chapinero is the easiest area if you want to combine the saunas with Bogotá’s bars and clubs. Saint Moritz, Dagoas and La Playa are within the wider gay district, with Cómplices a short taxi ride south in Teusaquillo.

Where to stay

  • Stay in Chapinero if nightlife is your priority. You’ll be closer to Bogotá’s gay bars and clubs and still within easy reach of the principal Festival de Verano venues by taxi.
  • HAB Hotel Bogotá is our preferred option. The hotel is directly in Chapinero, with stylish rooms, a garden, restaurant, gym and an excellent location for exploring the district.
  • For something more luxurious, BOG Hotel is a five-star design hotel close to Zona T, with an outdoor pool, spa and easy access to restaurants and nightlife.
  • 84 DC Bogotá is another good option near Zona T and the Andino shopping district, with Chapinero’s nightlife a short taxi ride away.
  • Book early if your visit coincides with the biggest Festival de Verano concerts and Bogotá’s August celebrations.

Getting around

  • Bogotá is huge, and Festival de Verano events can take place across different parts of the city.
  • From Chapinero, allow around 15–25 minutes by taxi to Parque Metropolitano Simón Bolívar outside peak traffic. Journey times can increase considerably during rush hour or before major concerts.
  • For nightlife, staying in Chapinero cuts down on late-night travel. Use registered taxis or ride-hailing services when moving between neighbourhoods after dark.
  • Check individual Festival de Verano locations before leaving your hotel, since many sporting and recreational events take place away from Simón Bolívar.
