Carna Pride is one of Rio’s biggest gay block parties, celebrated during the Rio Pride and annual Carnival celebrations.

- Silêncio Ipanema – Bar and restaurant at Rua Teixeira de Melo, 47, in the heart of the local gay beach area. A practical meeting point for drinks and food before heading out.
- Blue Agave – Casual bar on Rua Vinícius de Moraes serving draft beer, tacos, quesadillas and ceviche. A useful stop for an early meal and a drink after the beach.

- Unidos da Tijuca occupies a samba-school rehearsal and events hall at Avenida Francisco Bicalho, 47, Santo Cristo, in Rio’s port district. This is the school’s quadra, where its community gathers for rehearsals, samba competitions and celebrations.
- The layout centres on a large communal floor, with lower and upper camarotes, or private boxes.
- For CarnaPride, expect a crowd-focused Carnival setting with pop, funk, axé and Brazilian hits. The published tickets cover the main floor.
- Santo Cristo puts you away from the beachfront gay scene. Have dinner and drinks in Copacabana or Ipanema, then travel directly to the venue.

Getting There
- A taxi or app car is the simplest option from Copacabana and Ipanema, particularly for the return journey after the party. Enter the full street address when booking.
- Allow extra time for evening traffic and event arrivals. Arrange your return pickup at a clearly identified point near the entrance.
Where to Stay
- Ipanema – Our first choice for a beach-and-party break, with restaurants, bars and the gay beach area close together. Choose this district if you want most of your daytime plans within walking distance.
- Copacabana – Best for a broad hotel choice and a beachfront base. The southern end makes it easier to combine Copacabana with Arpoador and Ipanema.
- Ipanema Inn – Boutique hotel on Rua Maria Quitéria, just off the beach. A compact, convenient base for travellers who prefer restaurants and beach time to a large resort.
- Sol Ipanema Hotel – Beachfront rooms near Posto 9, a rooftop pool and bar, plus beach service. Book an ocean-view category for the best outlook.
