Plenty to see and do, you’ll be living your own desert adventure with all of the incredible sights, sounds and tastes in and around Broken Hill. The Festival

- The Broken Heel Festival is a fabulous three day festival which celebrates the theatrical anniversary of “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” at her spiritual home; The Palace Hotel and the township of Broken Hill, NSW, Australia.
- Broken Heel Festival brings you headline performances from Australia’s best Showgirls, Bio Queens, Drag Queens, Drag Kings and DJ’s representing every corner of the country’s diverse community.
- Friday, 6pm – 2am – Frock on or Frock off – Including a fabulous Fireworks display for a little glitter in the skies!
- Saturday, 6pm – 2am – Saturday night shindig.
- Sunday & Monday – More chilled with the screening of the Priscilla movie on Sunday followed by a day trip on Monday.
The Drag Parade
- Saturday – The Parade starts at the Post office and walks to Cnr Oxide/Argent and back to The Palace Hotel.
- The Main Drag In Drag street parade is where the entire community of Broken Hill joins in on the celebrations, approx 10am – 2pm.
Silverton Day Out
- Sunday, 10am – 7.30pm, Entertainment 12:30pm – 2pm – Silverton Day out
- Enjoy a country affair flavoured lunch and afternoon at the Silverton Hotel.
- The Silverton Hotel hosts the festivals Sunday Splendour programme. This iconic pub and ghost town gives festival goers a chance to run wild with selfies in the desert, ruins, Mad Max Museum, Art Galleries and its world famous Mundi Mundi plains.
- Buses will run between the Palace Hotel, Silverton Hotel & Mundi Mundi Lookout on Sunday.
Broken Heel Festival Grounds
- The festival grounds include The Palace Hotel at 227 Argent Street plus adjacent the Hotel on Sulphide Street, the street is blocked off for the three main days of the duration of the festival.
The Stages
- Throughout the Festival’s three stages, you’ll experience non-stop entertainment, comedy, cabaret, live music and social activities paying homage to the iconic cult movie and stage musical, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert.
- The stages include the Outdoor Stage, the Priscilla Bus Stage in the outdoor area and the Indoor Stage
- Dress code is whatever makes you feel fabulous. There are several bars and food available all night long.
Getting to the Broken Heel Festival
- REX Regional Express is the only airline flying in to Broken Hill. You could always stop in Mildura and drive the remaining 3 hours with a hire car. The landscape is breathtaking.
- REX offers direct flights from Sydney and Adelaide, but via Melbourne, you will stop briefly in Mildlura.
- Check out NSW Trainlink and Great Southern Rail, they run trains through Broken Hill.
- Transport NSW run a bus service from Adelaide to Broken Hill, they also run a service from Mildura to Broken Hill return.
