PopAir is one of Barcelona’s biggest names on the party circuit, a unique friendly event open to everyone with cute scruffy guys, great music and a relaxed attitude.
- Stay at the 4 Star Seventy Hotel in Barcelona, a charming and independent hotel offering high end facilities, large rooms and located in the heart of Barcelona, close to all the gay bars and just a short trip to the PopAir disco.
POPair Barcelona

- PopAir runs from 11.55 pm to 6 am at Safari Disco Club, Carrer de Tarragona 141.
- The party has been running in Barcelona for almost 14 years and has become one of the city’s best-known bear nights.
- Expect a friendly mixed-age crowd rather than a hard circuit-party atmosphere.
- Each edition comes with its own playful theme, with previous nights taking inspiration from pop divas, movies, art and gay culture.
- Tickets and VIP tables are available through Safari Disco Club’s official ticket site.
- PopAir runs across two rooms, letting you switch between big pop hits and a harder electronic sound.

11.55 pm – 6 amPopAir Safari Disco Club, Carrer de Tarragona 141. What to Expect
- PopAir has a noticeably different feel from Barcelona’s bigger circuit parties.
- The crowd is bear-heavy and body-positive, with bears, cubs, daddies, otters, chasers and friends mixing together without a strict dress code or circuit look.
- Music is split across two spaces. The Main Room concentrates on pop and dance hits, big gay anthems and tracks designed for singing along. La Cueva takes things darker with electro-house, heavier beats and a more intense late-night feel.
- Hosts, shows and PopAir’s furry dancers add to the party, but the night remains relaxed and social.
The Venue – Safari Disco Club
- Safari Disco Club is at Carrer de Tarragona 141, between Sants station and Plaça Espanya.
- The main room has a large dance floor, full-width stage, several bars and reserved seating areas with sofas. It connects directly to a covered outdoor smoking area and has a large cloakroom.
- The second room is smaller and more intimate, with its own bar, stage and lounge seating. PopAir uses the contrast between the two spaces to separate its pop and electronic sounds.
- The club’s location puts it a short ride from Eixample, making it easy to start the evening around Barcelona’s gay bars before heading to Safari.
Where to Go Before PopAir
Start around Eixample, home to Barcelona’s main concentration of gay bars.
- Bacon Bear Bar – Carrer de Muntaner 60. One of the most natural warm-up bars for PopAir, attracting bears, daddies, cubs and chasers in a relaxed setting.
- La Chapelle – Carrer de Muntaner 67. Small, quirky gay bar packed with religious memorabilia and a sociable early-evening crowd.
- Priscilla Café – Carrer del Consell de Cent 273. Gay cocktail and music bar with a lively local crowd and plenty of pop.
- Moeem – Carrer de Muntaner 67. Compact gay bar that becomes progressively busier later in the evening and works well before moving on to Safari.
Bacon Bear Bar is my pick before PopAir, as the crowd naturally overlaps with the party.
Where to Stay for PopAir
Stay in Eixample, putting Barcelona’s gay bars close to your hotel and leaving you a short taxi ride from Safari Disco Club.
- The Corner Hotel – Smart four-star hotel in Eixample with contemporary rooms and a rooftop pool. Our Choice for combining PopAir with a longer Barcelona weekend.
- H10 Casanova – Four-star hotel on Gran Via with contemporary rooms, a rooftop terrace and pool, close to the gay bars.
- Hotel Cram – Contemporary boutique hotel on Carrer d’Aribau with a rooftop pool and an excellent location for Eixample nightlife.
- Catalonia Plaza Catalunya – Central four-star hotel with a pool and spa, within easy walking distance of Eixample and Barcelona’s main sights.
For PopAir, Eixample is the preferred base. You can start the night at the gay bars and take a short taxi to Safari once you’re ready for the party.
PopAir Sitges BBQ
- PopAir heads to Sitges several times each year for its popular outdoor BBQ parties.
- The next confirmed May edition is Saturday 1st May 2027 during the Sitges Bears Week May Edition.
- The BBQ takes over Le Patio in central Sitges, just off Carrer Joan Tarrida, with DJs, bears, cubs, chasers, food and drinks from the afternoon into the evening.
- PopAir returns during Sitges Bear Week on Saturday 4th September and Saturday 11th September 2027.
PopAir Tips
- PopAir is popular with bears and chasers but open to everyone.
- There is no complicated dress code. Come ready to dance and have fun.
- Try both rooms during the night. The Main Room and La Cueva have distinctly different sounds.
- Start at Bacon Bear Bar if you want to meet some of the bear crowd before the party.
- Stay in Eixample rather than beside Safari if you’re making a full weekend of the trip.
