Oktoberfest Nashville 2027

Nashville’s Oktoberfest is one of the biggest in the country and takes over 10 city blocks in October.

  • Germantown is a 4-minute drive from downtown Nashville or a 6-minute from the gay district of Church Street. For a unique experience, stay right in the heart of the festivities at the Germantown inn. Groups will love the large suites at the Sonder at Ziel Haus

Nashville Oktoberfest

  • Next Event: Awaiting dates To Awaiting dates
  • The festival takes over Bicentennial Capitol Mall in Downtown Nashville.
  • More than 100,000 visitors attend across the four-day celebration.
  • German and local beers pour throughout the weekend alongside German food and Nashville favourites.
  • Live music ranges from traditional Oompah performers to party bands.
  • Signature events include the 5K Bier Run, Dachshund Derby, Pup Parade, Keg Bowling and stein-holding contests.
  • Thursday is Community Day with complimentary admission, but you still need to request a ticket.
  • Friday is complimentary until 4 pm with an advance complimentary ticket.
  • The festival operates rain or shine.

What to Expect

  • This isn’t a small beer tent transplanted from Bavaria. Nashville Oktoberfest spreads across Bicentennial Capitol Mall with beer tents, food vendors, stages, competitions and activities running throughout the park.
  • Traditional elements remain at the heart of the weekend. Expect steins of German beer, bratwurst, Bavarian-inspired dress and Oompah music, mixed with the live entertainment and party atmosphere Nashville does particularly well.
  • The festival works equally well as an afternoon visit or the starting point for a longer night in the city.

The Venue – Bicentennial Capitol Mall

  • The festival takes over Bicentennial Capitol Mall at 600 James Robertson Parkway, immediately north of Downtown Nashville.
  • The park gives Oktoberfest enough room for several stages, beer areas, food stalls and competition spaces without moving the event away from the centre of the city.
  • Historic Germantown sits immediately north of the festival grounds, making it one of the best areas for lunch, dinner or drinks around your visit.

Festival hours are:

Day Opening Time Closing Time
Thursday 5 pm 10 pm
Friday 11 am 10 pm
Saturday 11 am 10 pm
Sunday 11 am 5 pm

Signature Oktoberfest Events

  • The weekend programme extends well beyond beer and live music.
  • The 5K Bier Run starts on Saturday morning and runs through historic Germantown before finishing with a beer and festival entry.
  • The Dachshund Derby takes place on Sunday afternoon, with wiener dogs competing in one of the weekend’s biggest crowd favourites.
  • Saturday’s Pup Parade adds costumes and prizes, and Keg Bowling runs across all four days.
  • Stein Holding contests take place from Friday through Sunday. The competition is an official qualifier for the Tennessee State Steinholding Championship Tournament.

After Oktoberfest – Gay Nashville

Once the beer tents close, Nashville has several LGBTQ+ bars and clubs worth adding to the night.

  • Tribe – 1515 Church Street. One of Nashville’s established gay bars, mixing cocktails, food, DJs and a social crowd. A good starting point before moving next door for dancing. Tribe
  • Play Dance Bar – 1519 Church Street. Nashville’s big gay dance club, with DJs, drag shows and a large dance floor. Pick this when you want the night to continue well after Oktoberfest closes. Play Dance Bar
  • Frankie J’s – 1314 6th Avenue North. LGBTQ+ bar in Germantown, particularly convenient for Oktoberfest since it sits close to Bicentennial Capitol Mall. Drinks, food and a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere make it an easy pre- or post-festival stop. Frankie J’s
  • The Lipstick Lounge – 1400 Woodland Street. Long-running lesbian-owned LGBTQ+ bar in East Nashville with karaoke, music and a friendly mixed crowd. The Lipstick Lounge
  • TRAX – 1249 Martin Street. Unpretentious gay bar south of Downtown with a predominantly male crowd and late opening hours. TRAX

For convenience, Frankie J’s is the natural choice around the festival itself. Head towards Church Street for Tribe and Play if you want a bigger gay night out afterwards.

Where to Stay for Nashville Oktoberfest

For this event, Germantown is the smartest base. You’ll be close to Bicentennial Capitol Mall yet away from some of the noise around Broadway.

Downtown Nashville works better if Oktoberfest is one part of a wider Nashville weekend and you want Broadway, museums and live music nearby.

Nashville Oktoberfest Tips

  • Thursday offers complimentary admission all day with an advance ticket request.
  • Friday remains complimentary until 4 pm with the required advance ticket.
  • Saturday is the busiest day, with the Bier Run, Pup Parade and several competition rounds.
  • Sunday is shorter and includes the Dachshund Derby.
  • Oktoberfest continues in wet weather, so check the forecast before heading out.
  • Germantown makes a useful base for food and drinks around the festival.
  • If gay nightlife is the priority after Oktoberfest, allow time to head towards Church Street for Tribe and Play.
