Silicon Valley Pride

  • Next Edition: Awaiting dates
  • Silicon Valley Pride is one of California’s longest-running LGBTQ+ celebrations, tracing its history back to a gay rights rally held at San José State University in 1975.
  • The modern event combines a Saturday night festival with a Sunday morning parade and afternoon celebration. Most events take place around Plaza Park in the centre of Downtown San Jose.
  • Check out the top hotels closest to the gay pride events.

The Night Festival

  • Saturday evening opens Pride weekend with DJs, drag artists, singers and headline performers across the outdoor festival grounds.
  • Events run from 6 pm to 11 pm, creating a party atmosphere that feels closer to a large open-air club event than a daytime community fair.
  • Bars, food vendors, community stalls and lounge spaces operate throughout the evening.

Main parade

  • Sunday – 10:30 am The parade leaves along Market Street starting at Julian Street and ending at the main entrance of the festival. Festival grounds open once again after the parade ends at noon to the excitement of dance performers, talented artists, and the music of live bands.
  • The festival features two stages: the main stage and a second stage; Family Garden (family-friendly area); Hey Girl Area and Stage (area celebrating our queer women and femme-identified community members); Live Visual Art Exhibitions; Cocktail Lounge; and an array of vendors including food trucks and many more.
  • Stay in downtown, just a 5 minute drive from all the gay bars and clubs in The Alameda district. The AC Hotel by Marriott is a readers choice with great rooms and modern decor.

The Day Festival

  • The Sunday festival begins around noon after the parade and normally continues until 6 pm.
  • Previous editions have included live bands, DJs, drag performances, cultural showcases, visual artists, food trucks, cocktail areas and community organisations.
  • Dedicated spaces have included a Family Garden and the Hey Girl stage, created for queer women and femme-identifying members of the community.

Getting to Pride

  • Plaza Park is located at 1 Paseo de San Antonio in Downtown San Jose, opposite The Tech Interactive and beside the San Jose Museum of Art.
  • The park is served by the Convention Center and Paseo de San Antonio light-rail stops. San José Diridon Station is approximately a 20-minute walk or a short light-rail journey from the festival.
  • Guests staying downtown can walk between the festival, parade route, restaurants and the gay bars on Post Street.

Gay San Jose

San Jose is more than a world center for the software industry south of San Francisco; there’s plenty of gay social life here in Silicon Alley too. With a Subtropical Mediterranean climate San Jose has over 300 days of sunshine per year.

The Alameda is the historic LGBTQ+ District in San Jose.  Splash, Mac’s Club and Renegades are San Jose’s popular LGBTQ+ clubs often featuring drag shows, theme nights and DJ events.

  • Splash – Gay nightclub with 2 levels for dancing, a rooftop smoking patio & weekly events.
  • Mac’s Club – Casual neighborhood bar favored by a mostly gay clientele for its easygoing vibe & patio seating.
