Join bears, cubs, admirers and friends for five days of beach meetups, pool parties, tea dances and relaxed summer fun in one of New England’s most welcoming seaside towns.

  • Are you visiting Ogunquit? Stay at the B3 Bourne B&B, rated “Superb” by guests and just a leisurely stroll to the gay bars and restaurants.

The Party

  • Next Edition: Wednesday 25th August – Sunday 29th August 2027
  • Ogunquit Beach Bear Weekend combines a classic Maine beach break with a friendly, body-positive bear gathering.
  • The event is spread across the town rather than contained inside one hotel.
  • Days move between the beach, host inns, restaurants, shops and outdoor activities.
  • At night, the crowd heads to Mainestreet and other central venues for drag, karaoke, DJs and themed parties.
  • Events include bear beach meetups, pool parties, Bearaoke, Bear Bingo, Bear Mart, drag karaoke, tea dances, brunches, pizza parties, pickleball, hikes and group walks along Marginal Way.
  • Stay at the Bourne Bed & Breakfast – An intimate stay near Shore Road, Marginal Way and the centre of Ogunquit.

The Venues

  • Mainestreet Ogunquit – Ogunquit’s leading LGBTQ+ nightclub at 195 Main Street, hosting major evening parties, drag shows, DJs and tea dances.
  • Abalonia Inn – A central inn at 268 Main Street with an outdoor pool and hot tub, used as one of the weekend’s main social hubs.
  • High Rock at Abalonia – Located opposite Abalonia Inn, offering a quieter stay within steps of the central weekend events.
  • Inn on Shore Road – A boutique guesthouse close to Ogunquit Village, Shore Road and the main nightlife venues.
  • Moon Over Maine – A small guesthouse near Main Street, placing guests close to the bars, restaurants and weekend activities.
  • Nellie Littlefield Inn – A restored Queen Anne Victorian inn in central Ogunquit, within walking distance of the principal venues.
  • Perkins Cove Kitchen – A relaxed restaurant near the harbour, used for meals and social gatherings during previous editions.

Ogunquit Beach

  • Ogunquit’s gay-popular beach area is found around Section G, past the main beach entrance and approximately 200 metres beyond the volleyball nets.
  • The beach is wide and sandy, with plenty of room for large group meetups. Pack sunscreen, water and anything you need for the day, since returning to your accommodation can take time during busy summer afternoons.

Hints and Tips

  • Book early. Ogunquit has a limited supply of central rooms and late August remains part of its busy summer season.
  • Stay near Main Street or Shore Road if nightlife is your priority.
  • Register before attending and confirm where wristband collection will take place.
  • Check whether individual brunches, shows or parties need separate reservations.
  • Allow extra time when walking between the Village, the beach and Perkins Cove.
  • Use a taxi or rideshare service for accommodation outside central Ogunquit.

Gay Ogunquit

  • Ogunquit is compact, easy to explore and one of Maine’s best-known LGBTQ+ summer destinations.
  • Most of the gay nightlife is centred around Main Street and Shore Road in Ogunquit Village. Mainestreet is the late-night option, with DJs, drag shows and parties. The Front Porch is known for its piano bar, restaurant and evening singalongs.
  • Perkins Cove lies around 20 to 25 minutes on foot from the Village. Its waterfront restaurants, galleries and harbour make it a popular break between events. Marginal Way connects the Cove with the beach area by a scenic coastal walking route.
  • Ogunquit Village  is home to restaurants, bars, and shops with picture-perfect LGBT-friendly hotels and B&Bs
