Halloween in Puerto Vallarta
- Next Edition: Sunday 25th October, 2026 – Monday 2nd November, 2026
- Events begin on the Sunday before and continue through to the day of the dead celebrations, on the 1st and Sunday 2nd November.
- Over the past decade Halloween has become one of the more popular festivals in Puerto Vallarta. Here they celebrate “El Dia de Brujas” The Witches Day. Expect Halloween parties and lots of elaborate costumes!
- The Halloween weekend is celebrated over a series of days, normal from October 31st to November the 3rd and include The Day of the Dead Festival. The history of the event dates back to the time of the Aztecs.

- Oct 30th to Nov 1st – Enjoy spooky poolside parties throughout the celebrations with the sexiest guys in Puerto Vallarta as the Mantamar hosts a weekend of Halloween circuit pool parties with guest DJs, each day from 11 am.
CC Slaughter’s Halloween Party Costume Contest
- Oct 31st – Everyone’s favourite dance bar in Puerto Vallarta, CC Slaughter’s Halloween Party Costume Contest features a 1st prize 6000 pesos cash, 2nd prize $3000 pesos and 3rd prize $1500 pesos. The bar will host a special Show with Delta Queens and Residents.

Day of the Dead – Puerto Vallarta
- November 1st and 2nd- Puerto Vallarta celebration of the Day of the Dead has taken on a special significance over the past few years.
- The Guinness World Records recently awarded Puerto Vallarta the title of “The World’s Tallest Calavera Catrina“.
- A Catrina, often called La Calavera Catrina, is a striking representation of a elegantly dressed female skeleton, embodying the Mexican celebration of death as a natural and vibrant part of life during the Day of the Dead festivities. It serves as a powerful symbol of honoring and remembering deceased loved ones with a blend of art, culture, and tradition.
- Each year the Catrina gets a new outfit. Don’t miss the unveiling together with Inauguration of Altars, typically held on the Malecon in the late afternoon
- The monumental skull, which stands 75.5 feet high, becomes the artistic centerpiece of a celebration that includes the placement of altars of the dead, more than 80 giant “sugar skulls” decorated with various motifs throughout the Malecon boardwalk, and a comprehensive program of cultural activities.
Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) Parade
- November 2nd – Parade sets off at 5pm from the 5 de Diciembre cemetery and rolls through El Centro before ending at Los Muertos Pier with fireworks and a surprise show.
- Locals and visitors turn up in sharp Catrina looks, skull makeup, and outfits that feel more like art than costume.
- Streets fill with music, movement, and glowing altars, giving the night a deep, emotional energy that’s both festive and respectful.
- Tip! For the best views, grab a spot by the start of the parade, near the 5 de Diciembre cemetery for thinner crowds and better sightlines; work your way toward the Malecón as the sun sets.
November the 2nd – Other Celebrations
- The culmination of the Day of the Dead celebrations includes the obligatory visit to the cemeteries on November 2nd each year.
- Colonia 5 de Diciembre cemetery, hosts a the celebration, where the Vallartenses come to honor their dead. The surrounding area is filled with vendors selling fresh cempasúchil (Marigold) flowers, Mexican antojitos, pan de muerto, and even live Mariachi music!
