Folsom Street East is New York’s premiere s/m-leather-fetish themed street festival
Folsom Street East is New York’s premiere s/m-leather-fetish themed street festival and the largest outdoor event of its kind in NYC. FSE attracts nearly 10,000 visitors over three days in June. The 2023 edition will feature a range of events over the weekend including the festival on the Sunday.
- FSE takes place in the West Village. Stay close to the event at the Gansevoort Meatpacking Hotel, offering luxurious rooms and epic New York skyline views from the outdoor pool.
The Street Festival
- Awaiting dates, typically on the final Sunday of the weekend – Folsom Street East celebrates and inspires participation and pride in fetish, kink, and LGBTQ communities through the creation of safe spaces for public expression of our sexual identities. Folsom Street East promotes and provides grants to other nonprofit organisations serving these communities.
- The street will once again be lined with some 50 community groups and vendors that appeal to the LGBT and the kink communities and it will be filled with mobs of leather clad muscle hunks. A one-stop shop for leather gear, porn, and toys. And no throw pillow, magic mops, or tube socks – promise!
- Stay just 5 minutes from the event at the Dominick Hotel, rated “Fabulous” by guests and offering stunning city views.
The Location
- Folsom Street East takes place in the West Village on Christopher Street.
- The West Village’s charm rests in its 19th-century townhouses and cobblestone streets. They look much the same as they did when the neighborhood was at the center of the national gay liberation movement. The neighborhood proudly displays its diversity to this day.
- A sub-neighborhood of Greenwich Village, it’s approximately bound by Sixth Avenue to the east, the Hudson River to the west, 14th Street to the north and Houston Street to the south.
Gay bars to visit
- No trip to the Village is complete without exploring the area’s vibrant bar and club scene. Your first stop should be the Stonewall Inn, where the seeds of Pride began on a summer night in 1969 when patrons fought back against a routine police raid. Today the place has two levels: the ground floor has a bar and pool table; upstairs, depending on the night, you might find cabaret, dancing or karaoke.
- Just across Christopher Park, another longtime LGBTQ+ favorite is The Monster, which has a convivial bar and nightly dancing downstairs.
- Across Seventh Avenue, Marie’s Crisis is an old-timey piano bar that’s open to all who love a good show-tune sing-along.
