Charleston Pride returns in October with a weekend of parades, drag performances, live music, parties and LGBTQ+ celebrations in one of South Carolina’s most attractive coastal cities.

Charleston Pride

• Next Edition: Friday, October 16, 2026 To Sunday, October 18, 2026.
• The main celebrations take place on Saturday, with the morning parade followed by an afternoon festival and an official evening party.

Charleston Pride Parade

• Saturday 17th October 2026, from 9 am to 11 am.
• The parade begins at Wragg Square in historic downtown Charleston, before turning at the intersection of Ann Street and King Street.
• Expect colourful floats, community organisations, drag queens, local businesses and LGBTQ+ supporters celebrating along the city’s historic streets.
• Ava Clear, Carolyn Murray and Trevor D host proceedings near King Street and Calhoun Street.
• The College of Charleston’s South Carolina LGBTQ+ Archives serves as Grand Marshal.
• The parade is free to watch and takes place rain or shine.

Best Places to Watch

• Wragg Square: A good choice for visitors who want to see the parade assemble and begin its journey.
• King Street near Calhoun Street: The liveliest viewing area, with the official emcees providing commentary and entertainment.
• Ann Street and King Street: An excellent location for watching the procession negotiate the turn onto King Street.
• Arrive early to secure a position along the route, particularly around the main intersections.

Charleston Pride Festival

• Saturday 17th October 2026, from 11 am to 6 pm, with performances beginning at noon.
• Venue: Building 64, 2301 Noisette Boulevard, North Charleston.
• The festival combines live entertainment, drag performances, DJs, community organisations, local artists, vendors and food.
• Headliner Kenya Pleaser leads a programme featuring Charleston Pride’s Royal Court: Empress Gouda Judy, Emperor D’Wess Lefaris and Sovereign Cassandra Cake.
• Additional performers include Medusa Chaos, Mercy Maddison, Olivia Knowles, Paris Lefaris and a wide selection of regional drag entertainers.
• An art showcase curated by Arun Drummond features work from local artists.
• VIP admission includes access to a dedicated bar, light refreshments, two complimentary drinks, premium stage viewing and entry to the official afterparty.
• Parking is limited. The adjacent parking lot charges $10 for the day.

Charleston Pride Parties

Friday: Pride Kickoff at Taco Boy

• Friday 16th October 2026, from 7 pm to 10 pm.
• Venue: Taco Boy, 217 Huger Street, Charleston.
• Hosted by Kymmya Starr, with performances from Olivia Knowles, Sharese Ses Pieces and Nova Cane.
• DJs Trevor D and Snap Dragon provide the soundtrack, with the drag show beginning at 8 pm.
• Free admission for guests aged 18 and over.

Saturday: Official Pride Afterparty

• Saturday 17th October 2026, from 6 pm until midnight.
• The celebrations continue at Building 64 with live DJs, dancing, drink specials and drag entertainment.
• Performers include Kenya Pleaser, J Tyler, Paris Lefaris, Medusa Chaos and Charleston Pride’s Royal Court.
• Music by DJ Venus Alexander and DJ GREM.
• Admission: $10 general entry or $50 VIP. Strictly 18+.

Sunday: Pride Pool Party

• Sunday 18th October 2026, from noon to 6 pm.
• Venue: The Starlight Motor Inn, 3245 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston.
• The adults-only finale features poolside drinks, guest DJs, drag performances and live entertainment.
• Music by DJ Trevor D, DJ Fuego, DJ Thomas CW and DJ Snap Dragon.
• Strictly 21+. The organiser’s page lists general admission at $16, despite also describing the event as free, so check the ticketing information before attending.

Charleston Gay Bars and Nightlife

Charleston has a compact but welcoming LGBTQ+ nightlife scene, with most visitors spending their evenings around Upper King Street and downtown. North Charleston also has some interesting independent gay venues.

• Dudley’s on Ann – 42 Ann Street. Charleston’s best-known gay bar, with drag shows, karaoke, billiards, dancing and a lively late-night crowd. A natural meeting point during Pride.
• Bar Polari – 1813 Reynolds Avenue, North Charleston. An intimate LGBTQ+ cocktail bar with carefully prepared drinks and a relaxed, conversational atmosphere. A good alternative to the larger downtown bars.

For dinner and drinks, Upper King Street offers a strong selection of restaurants, cocktail lounges and independent bars within walking distance of the parade route.

Where to Stay

Downtown Charleston is the best base for Pride visitors, particularly around Upper King Street, Marion Square and the historic district. You can walk to the parade, restaurants and gay bars, while North Charleston’s festival venues are a taxi or rideshare journey away.

Planning Your Visit

• Book accommodation early. October is a popular month for Charleston weekend breaks.
• The parade is in downtown Charleston, while the main festival is in North Charleston. Allow time to travel between the two.
• Rideshare services are generally the most convenient option for visitors without a car.
• October usually brings more comfortable temperatures than the height of summer, although afternoon sunshine can still be strong.
• Combine your Pride visit with a walk through Charleston’s historic district, the waterfront and the restaurants of King Street.
