Budapest Gay Pride 2027

Budapest Pride is Hungary’s largest annual LGBT event, bringing together a month of community events, cultural programs and parties before the main Pride March and official Rainbow Party.

Budapest Pride March

• The Pride March is the highlight of the annual Budapest Pride celebrations and one of the largest LGBT events in Central Europe.
• Budapest Pride march brings together LGBT organisations, community groups, supporters and international visitors for an afternoon through the streets of the Hungarian capital.
• The route can change between editions and is confirmed closer to the event.

Rainbow Party – Official Budapest Pride After-Party

• After the Pride March, head to the official Rainbow Party, one of the biggest LGBT parties of the year in Hungary.
• Taking over Budapest Park with several music areas, DJs and performers.
• Events run from 10 pm until 4 am.
• Tickets purchased for the event directly support the work of Budapest Pride.

Budapest Park

• Recent Rainbow Party take over Budapest Park, one of the city’s largest open-air entertainment venues.
• Located at Fábián Juli tér 1 in the 9th District, the venue has a huge main stage together with several smaller event areas, bars and terraces.
• Budapest Park is approximately 4 km south of central Pest and is easy to reach by public transport or taxi.

Budapest Pride Parties

• Budapest Pride attracts several of the city’s biggest gay and queer party promoters for special editions throughout June.
• Garçons is one of Budapest’s biggest gay pop-up parties, attracting a predominantly male crowd for large themed events with guest DJs and performers.
• HELLO is one of the city’s best-known queer pop parties, with a broad LGBT crowd and special editions during major weekends.
• AlterEGO is one of Budapest’s established gay clubs, hosting DJs, drag shows and special Pride events.
• Ludus produces large summer events and has previously hosted Pride editions at Budapest Park.

Budapest Pride Community Festival

• Budapest Pride Community Festival extends the celebrations throughout June.
• The program is created with civil organisations, informal groups and members of the LGBT community.
• Featuring talks, workshops, exhibitions, film screenings, community meetings and cultural events.
• Events take place at different locations across Budapest, giving visitors plenty to explore before the main Pride weekend.

Gay Budapest

• Budapest does not have one dedicated gay neighbourhood. Most gay bars and clubs are spread across central Pest, particularly the 5th, 6th and 7th districts.
• The Jewish Quarter in District 7 is one of the best areas for nightlife, with bars and restaurants concentrated around Király Street, Kazinczy Street and the surrounding streets.
• Districts 5 and 6 are convenient for sightseeing and shopping and remain within walking distance or a short taxi ride of much of the gay nightlife.

Budapest Gay Bars & Clubs

• Why Not Café & Bar – Popular gay café-bar beside the Danube, busy for afternoon drinks and evening cocktails with regular entertainment.
• AlterEGO – One of Budapest’s established gay clubs, with two floors, DJs and regular drag shows.
• Habroló – Long-running LGBT bar with a relaxed local crowd and regular events.
• Coxx – Gay cruise club on Dohány utca with a bar, lockers, cabins and play areas.
• Magnum Sauna – Large gay sauna with steam room, sauna, whirlpool, lounge and cruise areas.

Gay-Friendly Dining Options

Budapest has an excellent dining scene, with many of the best options concentrated around the Jewish Quarter, Downtown Pest and the Danube.

• Mazel Tov – One of the most popular dining spots in the Jewish Quarter, set inside a beautiful covered courtyard on Akácfa utca. Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes, cocktails and a relaxed, open-minded crowd. Book ahead during Pride.
• Dobrumba – Friendly Middle Eastern and Mediterranean restaurant on Dob utca, with excellent mezze, plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices, organic wines and cocktails. Great for sharing plates before a night out in District 7.
• KIOSK Budapest – Stylish restaurant and bar on Március 15. tér, close to the Danube. A good choice for lunch, dinner or cocktails with a mixed local and international crowd.
• TATI Farm to Table restaurant – Contemporary farm-to-table restaurant on Dohány utca in the Jewish Quarter, serving modern Hungarian-inspired dishes. Its central location makes it handy before heading to the nearby bars.
• Grumpy Budapest – Popular brunch spot on Klauzál utca in District 7. Go for breakfast or a late brunch before exploring the Jewish Quarter.
• Why not cafe and bar – Gay café and bar directly on the Danube promenade. A relaxed choice for breakfast, coffee, drinks or something casual to eat, with outdoor tables and river views.

Where to stay for Budapest Pride

Stay in central Pest rather than beside Budapest Park. You’ll be closer to sightseeing, restaurants, gay bars and most Pride events.

District 7 – Erzsébetváros

• District 7 includes Budapest’s Jewish Quarter and is one of the best areas to stay if nightlife is your priority.

• The district is within walking distance of Andrássy Avenue, Deák Ferenc tér and much of central Pest.

• Budapest is split by the Danube, with historic Buda on one side and the busier neighbourhoods of Pest on the other.
• Don’t miss the Hungarian Parliament Building, St Stephen’s Basilica, the Chain Bridge and the views across the city from Fisherman’s Bastion.

Getting around Budapest

• Budapest has an excellent Metro, tram and bus network, making it easy to move between Pride events.
• Most central locations can be reached on foot or by public transport.
• The M1, M2 and M3 Metro lines are useful for central Pest, with trams 4 and 6 providing frequent connections around the inner city.
• Budapest public transport provides Metro, tram, bus and night services throughout the city.
• Expect temporary road closures and public transport changes around the Pride March.
• Budapest uses the Hungarian Forint. Credit Cards are widely accepted, though some smaller bars and venues still accept cash only.
