BierPassie Weekend, Beer Passion Weekend Antwerp 2022
Bierpassie Weekend has been a regular fixture on Antwerp’s social calendar for nearly two decades.
Visit Groenplaats, one of Antwerp’s most prominent squares in the heart of the city’s historic district and discover a village full of beer producers who come to present the fruits of their brewing endeavors. The festival features more than 200 different beers to try with something to suit all tastes.
BierPassie Weekend unveils more than two dozen different beers each year. Make your way to the Beer Sommelier stand and try some of the more unique beer styles, all while enjoying big band and Dixie land live music performances. The event attracts thousands of visitors over the weekend.
Food & Drink
Entrance to the festival is free of charge. Visitors purchase the Biersommelier Pilot Glass (20CL) for about 5 EUR and includes a catalogue. Purchase tokens at the festival entrance. Redeem your tokens for delicious beer tastings and food plates. The “Oud Brugge” Cheese Stand is a must-visit.
The Groenplaats (Green Square) is a large square in the centre of the Belgian city of Antwerp, situated south of the Antwerp cathedral. There are various trees with benches on the square, which is a ‘resting place’. A statue of Rubens, designed in 1840 and erected in 1843 by Willem Geefs, is in the centre of the square. Adjacent lie many cafes and a Hilton hotel, located in the old Grand Bazaar building.
Stay at the Gulde Schoen The Suite hotel in the heart of Antwerp; just a short 400m walk from the beer festival. The rooms are very stylish with high-end amenities and excellent service.
Many of the gay bars in the old town host special beer evenings throughout the BierPassie Weekend. The event attracts a unique mix of people, and Antwerp is one of the most gay-friendly cities in Europe. You are guaranteed to enjoy the beer and the unique atmosphere during the event.

Why you may want a car in Antwerp
One of the great things about Belgium is its small size; most of the country’s top attractions are just under an hour’s drive away. Belgium is the perfect country for a day trip by car to explore the many historic towns and villages such as Ghent and Bruges.
The city of Ghent is truly the hidden treasure of Flanders. The heart of Ghent boasts many impressive medieval buildings including the Town Hall, the Belfry Tower, the Cloth Hall, Saint-Nicolas’ church, the old harbour and the Castle of the Counts of Flanders and there are some lovely hotels here as well
Bruges is the capital of West Flanders in the northwest. It is the most enchanting of cities, with its cobbled streets and medieval buildings. The entire city is protected by UNESCO. With all its attractions, you will need more than a day to explore this beautiful city so why not consider spending a day or two here maybe at the 5-star Hotel Dukes’ Palace Brugge
