Fire Island Leather Weekend takes place each year in May and is organised by Excelsior M.C., a social and charitable club for gay men celebrating leather, fetish and community.
- Fire Island villas and hotels fill up almost a year in advance. Search for one now and reserve!
- The 2027 edition, Lust for Life 52, brings leather men from across the USA to Cherry Grove for three days of parties, dinners, socials and the Mr Fire Island Leather Contest.
The Weekend
- Next Edition: Friday 21st May to Sunday 23rd May 2027.
- Fire Island Leather Weekend is one of the first big events of the summer season on the island.
- The event is one of New York City‘s longest-running leather weekends, with proceeds and fundraising activities supporting community causes.
- This edition is titled Lust for Life 52 and takes place across Cherry Grove from Friday through Sunday.
- Events include welcome drinks, dinners, leather socials, cocktail receptions and the annual Mr Fire Island Leather Contest.
- The official Run Pass includes weekend meals, parties and receptions, entry to the Mr Fire Island Leather Contest, a Run Bag and an exclusive Lust for Life 52 commemorative pin.

Lust for Life 52
- Excelsior M.C.’s annual Lust for Life Run celebrates its 52nd edition.
- The weekend starts on Friday afternoon as guests arrive in Cherry Grove, check in and meet for the first official social events.
- Saturday is the main day of Leather Weekend, with events running throughout the afternoon and evening before the Mr Fire Island Leather Contest.
- Previous editions have included bootblack services, a welcome dinner, charity jock auction, cocktail receptions and late-night gatherings.
- Sunday brings the guys together for the final meals and social events before the weekend wraps up around lunchtime.
- The complete programme will be announced closer to the event.
Mr Fire Island Leather Contest
- The Mr Fire Island Leather Contest is one of the signature events of the weekend.
- Contestants compete for the annual title in front of visiting leather men, previous titleholders and members of the Fire Island leather community.
- Entry to the contest is included with the official Lust for Life 52 Run Pass.
- The venue and running time for the 2027 contest will be confirmed with the complete weekend programme.
The Venues
- Island Breeze Restaurant – A classic Cherry Grove restaurant overlooking the Great South Bay and a popular meeting point during the summer season.
- Floyd’s – Cherry Grove breakfast favourite. Try their famous egg sandwiches and fresh muffins.
- Belvedere Guest House – The official host hotel for Fire Island Leather Weekend 2027. The men-only guest house sits directly on the bay in Cherry Grove and hosts several parties and social events during the weekend.
- Stay in a Classic Fire Island home, 400ft from the beach with direct beach access.

Where to Stay
- Fire Island has very few traditional hotels, and most visitors share large houses, oceanfront properties or villas with pools.
- The Belvedere Guest House is the official host hotel for Lust for Life 52. Rooms are extremely limited, so book as soon as your plans are confirmed.

Cherry Grove
- Stay in Cherry Grove if Fire Island Leather Weekend is the main focus of your trip.
- Most official events take place here, and once you arrive everything is within walking distance.
- Cherry Grove has a long-established gay scene with waterfront restaurants, bars, drag shows and late-night parties.
- Fire Island Pines is the island’s other major gay destination and can be reached from Cherry Grove by water taxi or on foot along the beach.
Getting to Fire Island
- Take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).
- From Penn Station or Grand Central Madison in Manhattan, take the LIRR to Sayville.
- From Sayville Station, take a taxi or shuttle to the ferry terminal.
- Fire Island Ferries will take you directly from Sayville to Cherry Grove.
- Once you arrive, almost everything is reached on foot.

- Bay Shore provides access to Ocean Beach, Seaview and neighbouring communities.
- Sayville provides access to Cherry Grove, Fire Island Pines and Sailors Haven/Sunken Forest.
