The Hide hosts some of the best, most relaxed and friendliest meetups attracting BLUF, leather, bikers, rubber, uniform, sports, denim, pups and more!
The HIDE: Sydney leather & fetish social is a relaxed and friendly meet up in gear. Newcomers always welcome.
- Visiting for Sydney? Stay in Sydney’s bustling inner-city at The 249 apartments, rated “Superb” by guests with high-end modern amenities, spacious rooms and perfect location.
The Party
- Next Edition: Sunday, October 25, 2026 – Demo Edition.
- The HIDE runs from 5 pm to 10 pm at the Burdekin Hotel in Darlinghurst.
- This is a fetish social rather than a dance party, giving you time to meet people, have a drink and connect with Sydney’s gear community.
- Newcomers are welcome.
- Expect leather, rubber, denim, uniforms, sports kit, biker gear, pups, BLUF and other fetish looks.
- There is no backroom.
- The HIDE operates a proper fetish dress code rather than simply encouraging guests to wear gear.
The Demo Edition
- The October event adds live demonstrations to The HIDE’s established Sunday social format.
- Rather than a huge club night, expect a friendly gathering where you can actually talk to people, check out different gear and meet members of Sydney’s leather, fetish and pup communities.
- It’s particularly good for visitors who are curious about Sydney’s fetish scene but don’t necessarily want their first experience to be a late-night cruise or sex party.

- The HIDE is a full fetish social, so make an effort with your gear.
- Leather, rubber, uniforms, sports kit, denim, biker gear, pup gear and BLUF looks all fit the event.
- Street clothes aren’t considered fetish gear. Jeans or shorts with a T-shirt, a bare chest, or simply adding one harness, belt, pair of boots or mask isn’t enough to meet the stated dress standard.
- There are no bare arses and no backroom.
- If you’re visiting Sydney and don’t have a complete outfit with you, check the organiser’s current dress-code advice before a buying a ticket.
The Venue – Burdekin Hotel
- The HIDE takes over the Burdekin Hotel at the city end of Oxford Street in Darlinghurst.
- The Burdekin is a multi-level pub, club and live-music venue with a long connection to Sydney nightlife.
- Its position at the Hyde Park end of Oxford Street makes it convenient for both the CBD and Darlinghurst.
- The HIDE uses the venue as a social rather than trying to turn it into a large circuit-style club.
- Oxford Street’s gay bars are within easy reach, making it simple to continue the evening after The HIDE finishes.
- Museum Station is nearby, with the CBD within walking distance.
- Stay around Darlinghurst, Surry Hills or the southern CBD if you’re planning a weekend around Sydney’s gay nightlife.
Before & After The HIDE – Gay Oxford Street
- The HIDE’s early Sunday hours make it easy to combine with the bars along Oxford Street. Start with a drink nearby, head to the social, then continue along the strip afterwards if you’re not ready to call it a night.
- Universal Sydney – 85-91 Oxford Street. One of the major queer venues on the strip, with a ground-floor drag bar and the larger Superclub upstairs. Universal runs drag entertainment seven nights a week and is a good choice if you want something livelier after The HIDE.
- The Oxford Hotel – 134 Oxford Street. Long-running LGBTQ+ pub spread across several spaces, including the main Oxford Bar, Polo Lounge, Ginger’s and Oxford Underground. A useful choice for an earlier drink or something more relaxed before putting your gear on.
- Stonewall Hotel – 175 Oxford Street. One of Sydney’s best-known gay venues, spread across three levels with several bars, DJs and drag. Stonewall has a strong connection with the leather scene and hosts its own regular leather and fetish events.
- Palms on Oxford – 124 Oxford Street. Unpretentious gay nightclub known for retro pop, disco and singalong favourites. A completely different mood from The HIDE, but fun if you want to finish Sunday with uncomplicated dancing.
- For a gear-focused night, The HIDE followed by Stonewall makes the most natural combination. If you’re travelling with friends who aren’t into the fetish scene, The Oxford and Universal give them plenty of options nearby.
Gay Darlinghurst
- Oxford Street remains the centre of Sydney’s traditional gay nightlife, running from Hyde Park through Darlinghurst towards Paddington.
- The scene is compact enough to move between venues on foot, with the greatest concentration of gay bars around the central Darlinghurst section.
- During Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, the entire district becomes one of the main gathering points for visitors.
- The HIDE’s Mardi Gras edition is particularly popular with interstate and international fetish visitors, so book accommodation early if you’re planning to attend that event.
Where to Stay
- Stay around Darlinghurst or nearby Surry Hills for The HIDE. You’ll have Oxford Street nightlife within walking distance and easy access to the CBD.
- Ace Hotel Sydney – Design-led hotel in nearby Surry Hills with stylish rooms, a rooftop restaurant and a strong neighbourhood feel. A good choice for combining nightlife with restaurants and cafés.
- ADGE Hotel & Residences – Contemporary rooms and apartments close to Oxford Street. Particularly practical for a longer stay or if you want extra space for all that gear.
- Pullman Sydney Hyde Park – Large upscale hotel overlooking Hyde Park with a rooftop pool. Its location puts you between the CBD and Oxford Street.
- 202 Elizabeth – Small contemporary boutique hotel in Surry Hills with stylish rooms and a rooftop terrace, within easy reach of Darlinghurst nightlife.
The HIDE Tips
- Take the dress code seriously. This is a full fetish social rather than a gay bar with an optional gear theme.
- Newcomers are welcome, so don’t worry if you don’t already know people in Sydney’s leather scene.
- Arrive earlier if you want time to socialise rather than walking in near closing.
- There is no backroom and no bare-arse dress.
- Oxford Street gives you plenty of options for continuing the evening afterwards.
- The Mardi Gras edition attracts extra visitors, so accommodation and tickets are worth arranging early once dates are released.
