Celebrations begin post-beach time when guys enjoy sundowners at the stylish and sophisticated Elysium Sunset Bar. Gay venues in Mykonos town are concentrated in three locations near the old harbour front, where the small fishing boats are moored.
Montparnasse Piano Bar is located in Little Venice, one of the island’s most photogenic locations. Little Venice is full of lovely little bars with wooden verandas hanging directly over the sea, and it’s a Mykonos tradition to gather around here at dusk to watch the sunset. Montparnasse is a friendly queer place to enjoy this tradition. Once the sun has set, guest entertainers take to the stage to belt out classic show tunes.
Nearby Kastro Bar is a popular alternative for sunset cocktails. Jackie O’ is picturesquely situated on the waterfront, featuring great music accompanied by champagne and cocktails.
Meanwhile, the entertainment is more raucous at nearby Babylon. Glam bar with its roster of famous DJ’s and sexy go-go boys raises the temperature.
Hidden away in the maze of narrow alleyways near the waterfront, Porta is a series of tiny interconnecting rooms that quickly fill up with friendly locals and tourists, and so the action inevitably spreads outdoors. More like a traditional English gay pub, it is down-to-earth and cruisier than the other venues. Opens at 9pm, but the best time to visit is 11pm-1am.
If you can’t survive without dancing, then you could head to Cavo Paradiso, the famous megaclub on the rocks above Paradise Beach, where internationally renowned DJs play house music, and the youthful crowd parties beneath the stars until sunrise.
We have found hotels with good reviews that keep you close to all the action,

Many gay men will find a nocturnal stroll around the island’s most famous church more rewarding. Panagia Paraportiani is a cluster of five chapels built during the 16th and 17th centuries. Of the 600+ churches on the island, this one is the most famous and most photographed. It’s also the scene of some serious, after hours gay cruising. The action goes on until the sun comes up.
Those looking for a more mixed (but definitely gay-friendly vibe) should check out Caprice, the legendary but crowded spot to ejoy a sunset drink. The Alley, a chill-out all day cafe bar becomes one of the trendiest nightspots for connoisseurs – their Dry martini is one of the most famous! Those looking for a stylish venue for some pre-dinner drinks should pay a visit to the Belvedere Club at the Belvedere Hotel.
