Mates Leather Weekend brings together like-minded and leather-wearing guys from around the world during the cooling fall weather, perfect for enjoying all the sights of Provincetown in your leather, rubber, or uniform.

• Are you visiting for the Mates Leather Weekend? Stay at the Brass Key Guesthouse, rated “Superb” by guests. The Adults Only hotel features a heated pool and jacuzzi and is home to the popular Shipwrecked bar for pre-party cocktails.

• The atmosphere is deliberately social, mixing daytime meet-ups with harder late-night parties.

What to Expect

• Mates is one of Provincetown’s most established fetish weekends, but it doesn’t try to turn every hour into a club event.
• The programme moves between cocktails, shopping, bootblacking, cookouts and daytime socialising before becoming considerably harder after dark.
• Gear is part of the experience. Leather and rubber dominate, joined by uniforms, jocks, sports kit and other fetish looks.
• October works particularly well for Mates. Provincetown is quieter than during the peak summer weeks, accommodation is easier to find and the cooler weather makes spending the weekend in leather considerably more appealing.

Thursday – Opening Night

• The weekend starts with daytime access to Provincetown Gym for registered guests and free health screening at the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod Drop-In Center.
• Prime The Pump runs from 8 pm to 10 pm at Bay Cafe, with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks.
• The first proper party follows at Atlantic House from 10 pm to 1 am. Boot Camp brings out the leather and boots with DJ Wayne Michael, cigars on the patio and bootblacking.

Friday – Registration, Uniforms & Cigars

• Start the afternoon with Waterfront Cocktails at Harbor Lounge from 12.30 pm.
• The official Opening Reception runs from 5 pm to 8 pm at Paramount at Crown & Anchor.
• Pick up your Event Pass and meet the crowd over the opening buffet.
• Events continue at Paramount for Uniforms & Cigars.
• The Friday-night party runs from 9.30 pm to 1 am with uniforms, cigar fetish, bootblacking and guest DJs.

Saturday – Leather Market & First Mate

• Saturday is the biggest day of the weekend.
• The Leather Market & Raffle runs from 11 am to 3 pm at Boatslip Resort, bringing together leather and fetish vendors, gear trading, bootblacking and the annual raffle.
• The Leather Tea Dance follows from 6 pm to 9 pm at Atlantic House.
• At night, head to Purgatory at Gifford House for the First Mate Contest & Jock Party.
• The contest starts at 9.30 pm, with contestants judged on stage presence, confidence, gear, sex appeal and audience reaction.
• Once the contest finishes, enjoy the Jock Party until 1 am.

Sunday – Fetish Party & Rubber Ball

• Sunday starts with the Cookout & Tattoo Contest at Paramount at Crown & Anchor from 11.30 am to 2 pm.
• The action then moves to Purgatory at Gifford House for The Fetish Party from 4 pm to 8 pm.
• Return later for the Rubber Ball from 10 pm to 1 am.
• Shine up the rubber and latex for the final big night of the weekend.

Monday – Afterglow

• Mates finishes with the Afterglow Closing Brunch at Bay Cafe from 9 am to noon.
• It’s deliberately low-key – brunch, eye-opener cocktails and a final chance to catch up before everyone leaves town.

• Crown & Anchor – 247 Commercial Street. Paramount hosts the Opening Reception, Uniforms & Cigars and Sunday’s Cookout & Tattoo Contest.
• Atlantic House – 6 Masonic Place. Provincetown’s historic gay club hosts Boot Camp and the Leather Tea Dance.
• Boatslip Resort – 161 Commercial Street. Waterfront gay resort and home of the Saturday Leather Market.
• Gifford House – 9 Carver Street. Purgatory hosts the First Mate Contest, Jock Party, Fetish Party and Rubber Ball.
• Harbor Lounge – 359 Commercial Street. Waterfront cocktail bar hosting Friday’s afternoon gathering.
• Full Kit Gear – 192 Commercial Street. Provincetown’s fetish and leather store hosts Friday’s Coffee & Dessert event.

Between Mates Events – Gay Provincetown

You don’t need to plan a complicated bar crawl in Provincetown. Commercial Street and the surrounding lanes put most of the gay scene within walking distance.

• Shipwreck Lounge – 10 Carver Street. Relaxed cocktail lounge at Brass Key, useful for drinks between afternoon and evening events.
• Porch Bar at Gifford House – 9 Carver Street. Particularly convenient during Mates, since Purgatory downstairs hosts several of the weekend’s main parties.
• Aqua Bar – 207 Commercial Street. Waterfront drinks and harbour views, close to several Mates venues.
• Harbor Lounge – 359 Commercial Street. One of Provincetown’s established cocktail spots and an official Mates venue on Friday afternoon.
• A-House – 6 Masonic Place. Historic gay nightclub and one of the central venues for the weekend.

Where to Stay for Mates Leather Weekend

• Stay around Central Provincetown. The town is compact, and staying close to Commercial Street means you can walk between most events without worrying about transport.
• Brass Key Guesthouse – Adults-only guesthouse close to Carver Street with a heated pool, hot tub and Shipwreck Lounge. One of the strongest choices if you want a social gay stay close to Purgatory.
• Crowne Pointe Historic Inn & Spa – Upscale adults-only inn close to Commercial Street with a spa and a quieter atmosphere when you need a break from the weekend.
• Somerset House Inn – Adults-only historic guesthouse directly on Commercial Street, putting you within an easy walk of the bars, restaurants and Mates venues. A strong choice if you want a smaller Provincetown property right in the centre of the action.
• The Ellery Hotel – Contemporary adults-only boutique property close to the centre, with spa facilities and an intimate feel.
• For Mates itself, staying around Carver Street or central Commercial Street gives you the easiest weekend. Several parties finish at 1 am, so being able to walk back to your room is a real advantage.

Event Passes

• The Mates Event Pass covers entry to the programme beginning Friday, the official 2026 T-shirt and food at the Opening Reception and Sunday Cookout.
• Passes are $90 until 1st September, $110 from 1st September and $120 from Friday 2nd October. Individual cover charges apply if you attend without a pass.

Mates Leather Weekend Tips

• Book accommodation early. Provincetown has a limited room supply and Mates uses venues throughout the centre.
• Bring the gear you actually enjoy wearing. Leather, rubber and uniforms sit at the heart of the weekend.
• Leave space in your luggage for the Saturday Leather Market.
• Friday’s Opening Reception is the main Event Pass collection point.
• The First Mate Contest begins at 9.30 pm sharp on Saturday.
• Many events are within walking distance, so central accommodation is far more useful than hiring a car.
