Brighten up your Winter with a trip to Barcelona in February for the annual light festival, Lumen BCN. Experience light projections, installations and light sculptures by contemporary artists.

The Event
- Next Edition: Awaiting dates, typically the first weekend in February.
- Llum, meaning Light in Catalan, takes place in the Poblenou quarter, starting at the Disseny Hub Barcelona (Plaça de les Glòries).
- The installations are spread across the district and are visible from 7 pm until 1 am on Friday and Saturday, and from 7-11 pm on the Sunday.
- Featuring 33 different installations and exhibitions – the work of architects, designers and artists from around the world.
- Llum BCN celebrates spectacles that both tell a story and spark conversation. Artists are given the opportunity to further enhance the scope of their work through the use of large-scale projection, interactive spaces and commanding lighting as a form of artistic experimentation.
- Large historic buildings , old factory chimneys and industrial buildings are transformed into works of art by light. The installations turn the neighborhood of Poblenou into a unique world of expressive light and imagery.

LLUM Barcelona – The Routes
- The festival offers three thematic routes, each connected via the T4 Tram line:
- Blue Route: Disseny Hub area
- Orange Route: Glòries area and surroundings
- Green Route: Poblenou Center Park area
- Information points are located at Josep Antoni Coderch Square and in front of the MediaTIC building. Service areas with food stalls, rest zones, and restrooms are available at Disseny Hub, MediaTIC, and inside the Centre del Poblenou park
- Casa Batlló is also transformed with special light projections onto the building.

El Poblenou
- Poblenou is located to the east of the city centre, between the area of Glories and the beach. Getting to Poblenou is easy via rideshare or via the Metro: L1 Glòries, Clot, L2 Clot, L4 Llacuna, Poblenou and Selva de Mar. And via Tram: T4 and T5.
- El Poblenou is a large district in Barcelona, home to hip cafes and tapas bars along Rambla de Poblenou boulevard, and converted factories housing tech offices and design showrooms.
- Sights around Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes include Els Encants flea market, futuristic Barcelona Design Museum and the Torre Agbar skyscraper.
- If you are looking for a gay friendly place to stop by after the light show, head to Madam George Lounge Bar, a trendy and gay friendly cocktail lounge bar popular with local guys. Poblenou is a 14 minute taxi ride from Eixample, the city’s gay district.

- Start at Poblenou and Les Glòries Take the T4 tram line to navigate through the festival. Its a great way to see the district and the lights at night.
