Budapest Gay Pride 2026

Budapest Gay Pride is the biggest annual LGBT event in Hungary and is a mix of political demonstrations, events, parties and concerts. Events run for an entire month, culminating in a final weekend of parades, festivals and circuit parties.

Where to stay during Pride?

• Attending Budapest Pride? Stay in Pest in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th districts, home to the city's popular clubs and bars, many within walking distance of one another.

Budapest Pride Community Festival

• Next Edition: Awaiting dates – Typically runs in mid to late June.
• Event program features a range of activities spread across the city for the entire 4 weeks of the celebration.
• Nearly 100 programs of the Budapest Pride Community Festival are jointly organized by more than 50 civil organizations, informal groups and individuals, and in recent years it has grown into the largest civil festival in the country.

Budapest Pride March 2025

• Saturday – Awaiting dates- The main parade of Budapest Gay Pride is held on the Saturday of the 10 day event.
• The march starts at 14.00 and ends at 20.00. The march typically begins at Dráva utca and ends at Szabadság tér (Liberty Square).
• The route is confirmed a few days before the event.
• The speeches start at 17.30, which will be followed by performances.
• You can find many Hungarian NGO’s in the Civilian Village with guest DJs
• Stay close to the parade at the D8 Hotel, a charming 3 star hotel rated “Superb” with a wide range of breakfast options and excellent amenities.

Budapest Pride Rainbow Party

• Saturday – Awaiting dates – As Budapest pride procession ends, the alfresco Budapest Pride Rainbow Party awaits revelers at Budapest Park, where a full program of events is scheduled.
• The programme includes fashion shows, massages and face painting beginning at 6pm.  The party concludes with a fireworks show starting just before 10pm.
• The Rainbow Party in Budapest park is hosted by Funhouse and will feature some of the biggest DJS, acts and live shows. Funhouse is Hungary's biggest queer happening.

Gay Budapest

• Despite government efforts, Budapest has a vibrant gay scene with plenty of bars, parties, shops and gay friendly hotels and restaurants to keep you entertained. The city is also home to some of Europe's most impressive historical attractions.
• The majority of gay venues in Budapest are situated on the Pest side of the Danube.

Most Popular Districts

• District VII (Erzsébetváros): Known as the Jewish Quarter, this district is the heart of Budapest's nightlife, featuring a plethora of bars, clubs, and cafes that are LGBTQ+ friendly.
• Stay in the 7th district at the Eurostars Palazzo Zichy, rates “Superb” by guests, and is within walking distance of the gay scene. Featuring stylish rooms, highly-rated American style buffet breakfasts and complimentary drinks in the lobby.

• Triton – International circuit style party with themed events and special Pride parties including pool and beach events.
• HELLO – The ultimate pop party with camp music and a mix of people. Their Queen Size editions are especially popular.
• Alter Ego – One of Budapest's most popular gay clubs, known for its lively dance floor and drag performances. Hosts a series of special pride parties in June.

Budapest Gay Bars

• A Drop Coffee & Bar – Start your day with a coffee and end it with a cocktail at this LGBT-friendly spot that transforms from café to bar as the sun sets. Find your drop of joy at Dessewffy utca 26, in the heart of the city near metro stops Arany János utca, Opera, and Oktogon.
• Freedom Club – Formerly known as Rainbow, this LGBTQ-friendly cafe-bar spices up the week with parties and drag shows every Friday and Saturday night.  Easily accessible from the Rákóczi tér metro station.
• Gaby's – Overlooking the Danube, this LGBTQ-friendly resto-bar serves up a tasty mix of omelettes, burgers, and cocktails with a side of river views.
• Habroló – Reopened in December 2021, Habroló is the place to unwind nightly with good vibes and better company. Stake out at the new address Síp utca 5, Budapest 1075, a hop away from the Astoria metro station.
• Why Not Café & Bar – Nestled along the Danube embankment, this gay-friendly café-bar is perfect for a daytime coffee or a nightcap, with occasional drag shows to add some sparkle. One of the longest running venues in Budapest.

• Mazel Tov – Located in the Jewish Quarter, it’s an open-hearted cultural space with excellent Middle Eastern cuisine.
• Barack & Szilva Restaurant – On the edge of the party district, the restaurant delivers a contemporary take on traditional Hungarian cuisine in a welcoming setting. Live music and great goulash!
• Costes Downtown – An elegant Michelin-starred restaurant known for its innovative and exquisite presentation of dishes, blending Hungarian ingredients with international flavors. Perfect for a memorable, special occasion.

• Coxx – Busy gay cruising club, featuring lockers, a bar, cabins, a car, sling room, and more for an adventurous night. Minimum spend is 1500 HUF. Located at Dohány utca 38, Budapest 1072, in the heart of the city near Blaha Lujza tér and Astoria metro stations.
• Magnum Sauna – Popular year round and especially during pride and post circuit parties. A spacious, modern gay bathhouse featuring a variety of amenities including a lounge, steam room, sauna, whirlpool, and a cruising labyrinth. Offers professional sport and relax massages. Located in District VIII.

Tips for a successful trip

• Language – While younger Hungarians and those working in tourism are likely to speak English, learning a few basic Hungarian phrases can enhance your experience.
• Currency – Hungary uses the Hungarian Forint (HUF). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it's good to have some cash for smaller venues or tips.
• Transportation – Budapest has an excellent public transportation system. Consider purchasing a travel card for unlimited use within your stay duration.
