Paris Gay Games 2019

Organized every four years for the past 30 years, the Gay Games are a true hymn to love, promoting a society that is open to all forms of diversity.

Paris is the ideal host to celebrate this 11th edition, where 15,000 athletes from over 70 countries are expected to take part! With the support of all major sporting and government bodies, Paris 2019 is preparing Games that will celebrate diversity, respect, equality, solidarity and sharing.

Over the course of 10 days, Paris 2018 will honor the cosmopolitan metropolis, the Ile-de-France region (Paris and its surrounding area) as well as the whole country, offering both participants and visitors from around the world a unique opportunity to enjoy outstanding infrastructure, such as the Jean Bouin and Charléty stadiums, the Bercy Arena, the Roland Garros tennis center, the Carreau du Temple multipurpose venue, the new Philarmonie concert hall, or the Vaires-sur-Marne sports park, which serves as a true hub for excellence in sports in the Ile-de-France region.

With an eye to the world and the future, Paris and the Ile-de-France region wish to make the next Gay Games easily accessible to as many people as possible, in keeping with the tradition of its founder, Tom Waddell, who dreamed of a world where the word ‘equality’ would take on its full meaning, a world in which exclusion based on difference would no longer exist.

The opening ceremony will mark the official opening of the Gay Games at the Jean Bouin Stadium on August 4, 2018. The Opening Ceremony is one of the most important moments of the Gay Games, with a procession of athletes and artists into the stadium, with a series of tableaux illustrating Paris, and accompanied by a succession of performers and public figures, this ceremony will bring together all participants to share in an unforgettable experience. Just after the Opening Ceremony, the Grand Palais will hostthe Opening Soiree of the 10th edition of the Gay Games. On this occasion, the Grand Palais will host the renown DJ, remixer and music producer, Offer Nissim, one of the most reognized DJs on the international gay scene.

The Grand Palais venue has a maximum capacity of 5600 people, and will house an immense stage with more than 100m2 of screens, with the best sound systems, an impressive light show, a VIP area, and facilities for serving drinks and food.
