Where to stay, famous places or new faces?
Elysium plays host to some great shows on Sunday nights. Plus the hotel is gay owned and operated.
Where you choose to stay really depends on your budget. The ultra-luxury hotels tend to be located outside of the main town also known as “Hora”. You need to decide if you want to be close to the beach or to the nightlife. Traveling between the town and the beaches can take between 15 and 30 minutes depending on traffic and which beach you choose to visit. Whatever you choose you will need to take a taxi to and from both, or to rent one of the famous Mykonos quad-bikes!
In the centre you will find charming boutique hotels ranging from simple Mykonian designed guest houses to the hip Belvedere hotel. The gay-classic Elysium has a well earned reputation for style and host its world famous sunset shows on Sundays.
But gay Mykonos is an island that is constantly changing and recent new arrivals have brought more choice for visitors.
- The Boheme – Town Centre The lemonade served on arrival is homemade from fruit grown in the hotel’s walled herb garden. A two-minute walk from Mykonos Town and its many lively restaurants.
- Absolut Mykonos Suites & More With 33 rooms, Not too big, not too small – Absolut Mykonos Suites & More is just right. The location is also perfect for evening dining and partying.
- Lyo – Super Paradise Beach 18 bedrooms are spread beneath a series of low-rise buildings, giving the feel of an intimate hill-top hamlet. In high summer, Super Paradise’s beautiful sandy bay, a five-minute stroll down the hill, transforms into a heaving, hedonistic party zone with crowds drawn to beach clubs such as the magnificently razzly Jackie O. Those who prefer to sip rather than spray their Champagne will probably plump for Lyo’s super-quiet, open-air bar with sublime sea views.
- Branco Mykonos Just 4km from the centre of Mykonos but on another planet as far as guests are concerned, this venue is sublime. Great beach access without the long taxi journey!

Where to top up your tan?
Alemagou beach should definitely be on your Gay Mykonos Shortlist!
Elia beach has long been the de-facto “Gay Beach” on the island , and while still popular, the beach has been eclipsed by the higher end offerings of the more mixed beaches of Pinky, Jackie O’, Scorpios and Nammos.
Elia is where you will find a more cruisy atmosphere however so you may find just what you are looking for! Our advice is to explore the beaches across the island as they all offer something a little different.
Pay a visit to Alemagou with genuinely good food experience and an amazing view and setting down to Ftelia bay. The restaurant serves Greek-inspired cuisine that holds very high standards.Spend the day there on the beach club and let yourself unwind, relax and enjoy this unique setting.
